This thread is about where you download your music from.

I get mine from eMusic. I pay $9.99 a month, and I can download 40 songs which are DRM free. I think it is a great service, the downloads are very quick and the service is simple to use. It also has a portal system akin to last.fm, where you have neighbours based on people with similar taste to your music who reccomend music to you.
I also like it because most of the music on eMusic you won't find on iTunes, MSN Music or Napster, because it specialises in music from independant labels, the upside is that you don't pay premiums for manufactuered pop music but the downside is you probably won't find many songs from top 40 artists on the site.

What online music service do you use and why?

I don't download music off of the internet as much anymore, but when I do, I use Kazaa Lite K++ or Azureus (Bit-Torrent Client).

SoulSeek, WinMX and limewire (i downloaded limewire pro, off limewire, lol)

I have no need to use Online services for music.  I do have a habit of downloading a smaple of an album before I buy it.  If I don't like the sample I delete the sample.

In the UK it's illegal to RIP music from the CD let alone download it.  Just anothre stupid law they don't enforce but it still exists.

That is what I was thinking, as long as you have the album, then you are allowed to rip it, although, you aren't allowed to show the CD publically or lend it to people. You can also copy it as many times as you want, as long is it is for your own personal use... When you buy the CD, you buy the licence to that single CD.

just use websites... no p2p needed then

i download from kazaa and  internet sites with bit torrent, there are very few metal songs on pay services, besides in mexico there are not good pay services that i know of.
Kazaa is NOT ILLEGAL if you don't use it to download illegal content.It is not illegal to rip as many cds as you want as long as you have the original cd .

i get my little amount of music from limewire

i use limewire...and i used to use kazaa lite ++ soo merh to y9u all

I used to download it off Kazza++, or WinMX. But now I usually rip it from friends CD's, and I ocassionaly buy a CD.

Rip from CD's and Ares..

HMV (store) wal-mart (store) and torrents (client=ABC)

i like buying cds just to have a physical collection
all of my cds have seen a cd player/drive about twice, once on the way home from the store and once to be ripped and loaded on my ipod.
when i can be bothered i'm planing on buying
theory of a deadman, self titled and gasoline
seether, karma and effect.
there were others i wanted but i can remember them.

From Limewire PRO Mostly Then From Friends Who buy the CDs and sometimes Shareaza

I mainly get my music from CD's now days, better quality, doesnt cost bandwidth. Leeching it at LAN events is the next highest method.

I've tryed limewire, kazaa and winmx, but shareaza is the best imo...

I use program 01-mp3search, but music from my favorite arists I always buy from store.

Kceasy butdue to 56k it is a bit hard. But for artists I really like I always buy their cd's eg. beastie boys.

Azureus and or eMule.

I used to download from WinMX, but it didn't agree with the router. But I usually buy my music from mycokemusic.com (Bought a full album for 7.99 GBP when in the shops they wanted 15.99GBP.) Otherwise I buy the CDs, be it from HMV (10% off for me), Virgin Megastores (10% again) or ebay. One artist i listen to, I need to import the cds, unless of course, the fans get their way

Blah, I just use yesasia.com and jpc.de for my cds (the last one because its calculated in Euros and its much cheaper ) And yesasia is  done in dollars, so if I get in at the right time, again, much cheaper

If my dad gave me CC access for my PayPal account, I'd buy the CDs.

But since he doesn't, I simply use eMule.

i first dload a few songs frm the net (limewire) and then buy the full CD frm Music Planet...

Kazaa Lite K++ or emp3finder.com (i stopped going there about 1 and a half years back) (Now a days i just get my music from cd's from friends or directly copy it via discs )

Usually I get my music from either Bittorrent (client = ABC) or buy it from Hmv/Amazon.

Ok guys i tried all the legal softwares to buy music ,but no one SUpport my country, LEBANON.

anyone knows a software that support lebanon


edit: i tried limewire once, after i tried all the legal things, but i dont know it doesn't download anything, it stay searching for sources, even tough that i only download 1 Photo, but nothing of music!!
