exactly the same with me, my sister got 7 A*s and 3 As, and now she is doing medicine at one of the top med schools. And my parents are always comparing me to her, they want me to beat her almost. They annoy me like that, they just want me to follow a safe route that everyone else is doing. When I want to do something, but isn't exactly conventional
RE: GCSE Results :) by Purity on 08-25-2005 at 07:06 PM

Damn, I wish we used the letter system here in canada....we do for k-6 grade, but once highschool comes it's a different story.  It's all percentages and Credits.......

RE: GCSE Results :) by PenguinBoy on 08-25-2005 at 10:20 PM

i goot

A* Geography
A Maths
A Music
A Science
A Science (i get 2 :D)
B French
C Wood
C English
D Graphics
E English Lit
E Religious Studdies

a good range i think :D:D

my friend got £100 for every A* (of which, he got 5)
and smaller ammounts for all is other grades... that's fish shaking stuff....
my other friend got 7 "A*"s  2 As and 1 A and was telling me how she was dissapointed with her B!?! Most annoyingly she bearly studdied!

Well done monster.rat glad u done well!!

RE: GCSE Results :) by M73A on 08-25-2005 at 11:10 PM

ah man i've got mine when i go back to school... starting year 11 after the holidays....

ICT is starting to piss me off, why cant they teach decent stuff instead of microsoft word?! i dont give a toss about office, teach me html, php, use vb anything that isnt office?!:@

plus my secondary school is a 'language college' students have to take 2 language gcse's and the school gets more money?!?! i should be paid for having to study french :@ sorry to anyone who's french don't take any offence but i hate the language?! my teacher lets me sit there and look out the window or what ever all lesson... it sucks... i still got a B and thats cause in the writing exam i just copied all of the examples out of the dictionary....

if your taking a language gcse for the some of the exams you can take a dicitonary.... i reccommend taking collins easy learning french/german/spanish dictionary because with like every word it has about 3 sentences uising it as an example... copy them and u get urself an A (spanish.. lol)

oh yea... are the gcse exams hard? :D

even though everyone hu is like 35+ recons the exams are easier from news reports... but what exam have they personally taken recently?!? twats

RE: GCSE Results :) by saralk on 08-26-2005 at 08:59 AM

If you know all the stuff, then the exams are pretty easy. Especially the science exams, the only problems are with the humanities, I ran out of time in my History exam, and left about 30 marks worth of questions out.

So practice writing fast and legibly (sp?)

RE: GCSE Results :) by M73A on 08-26-2005 at 09:13 AM

sp? whats that?

i dont do humanities or history :D :P

As I said, ICT GCSE is you learning to open up a word document and type your name. But you could easily get a A* but there's no point. Are Microsoft going to higher you because you can type your name into their program? Me thinks no. :P

RE: GCSE Results :) by Chestah on 08-26-2005 at 09:38 AM

lol nice work everyone!
In Australia we have a slightly different system, are these for year 11?
Not quite up to my year 11 yearly's yet but in my SC (school certificate) last year in year 10 i got:
5 A's :P

RE: GCSE Results :) by tomfletcherman on 08-26-2005 at 09:40 AM

I got A* in english literature, english language, music and R.E, A in maths, biology, physics and chemistry, B in spanish and ICT and a C in electronics.

And yeah the ICT course sucks. I didn't work hard on the coursework. Nearly no one in our school got higher than a B, they are stingy markers, but it doesn't matter, cos I can use a 'puter :refuck:

RE: GCSE Results :) by user27089 on 09-07-2005 at 03:12 PM

I got 3 sets of results today:

Maths Mod 1: B
Maths Mod 3: B
Science: B

Crazy eh :p.

RE: GCSE Results :) by toddy on 09-07-2005 at 03:15 PM

Maths Mod is for losers

do the proper full test newb

RE: GCSE Results :) by user27089 on 09-07-2005 at 03:16 PM

Maths Mod is for loser? They're all of the different Modules that you do in maths, so I did Module 1 & 3, I don't know where module 2 went :p...

Oh, and yes, I did the higher paper .

yeh but if u do the Modules u can only get a B, do the full proper paper and u can get an A* like me :p
RE: GCSE Results :) by user27089 on 09-07-2005 at 03:19 PM

No, people in my class got A*'s, and they took the same things as me, these only count for 30% of my final result anyway .

u can't get an A doing Modules
RE: GCSE Results :) by user27089 on 09-07-2005 at 03:30 PM

Yes you can, I'm in top group Maths, the only difference is that I don't do statistics... Trust me, I'm actually right on this one .

You probably have a different scheme from my school, our exams are done in modules, module 1 has a certain set of stuff to do, like numbers, when module 3 is something like data handling. The different modules are simply different subjects within maths, my guess is that module 2 will be something to do with graphs....

well thats gay as fuck if you can actually get an A* by doing Modules , why should i have had to do it all at once in two 1 1/2 hour exams when you get to do it over a hell of alot longer period
RE: GCSE Results :) by user27089 on 09-07-2005 at 04:17 PM

I thought that most schools did it like that, St. Benedict's has always done it like this afaik!

Depends on the exam board.

then again, ive been told we use a different one every year, and they have had to sit modules.
RE: GCSE Results :) by saralk on 09-07-2005 at 06:24 PM

most exam boards have a modular option, and you can get the full spectrum of grades, but if you do the modular course, it will say "Mathmatics Modular".

imo, modular courses are an easy way out.

RE: GCSE Results :) by LittleK on 09-07-2005 at 07:54 PM

I did alright in my exams, not that good, not that bad, couple As,Bs,and Cs. Got an F in coursework for ICT rofl thats my own fault though! You can retake Gcse's in college though right?

RE: GCSE Results :) by user27089 on 09-07-2005 at 08:10 PM

I am doing ICT GNVQ, it is an amazing subject... :dodgy: </sarcasm>

It is a load of balls, and a dossing lesson, where we learn stuff we already know...

So we get 4 GCSE's for common sense.

Quite good right?

I'm working at a distinction .

RE: GCSE Results :) by hmaster on 09-07-2005 at 08:15 PM

Just started yr 10 and i chose IT woopey doo ¬_¬
We used to be with AQA which is really 2yrs of MS Office plus making a crappy website. Now were at DIDA [ http://dida.edexcel.org.uk/home/ ]where we get 2 GCSE's instead of 1, no exams :o) so that means we have 2 projects one in yr10 and one in yr11. It is boring though :|
