hey,
I've been playing around with google talk lately, and have been able to implement smilies :p.

I also made a /clear command (which obviously empties the conv window).

It isn't that special, but I'd like to know whether you guys feel something for a 'talkplus' program.

The smiley stuff doesn't work flawless yet, so don't ask for the program...

Good work, google talk is too plain and simple for me, it would be ideal for an office situation though...

Please don't ask/pm for beta test/graphics design atm. There is almost NOTHING to test yet, I only did some experimenting. Of course I'll notify you of all progress :)

That's exactly what I was thinking. I won't implement any stuff like display pictures/webcam support etc. But I think chat logging would be nice for example.

Well, you beat me to it - I actually started on something this morning. I had send functionality for /me, Ctrl + K for colour, ^text here^ for underline. I hadn't done the receiving end.

I also began on initial and very basic logging support.

However I gave up because my C++ is very rusty and I wasn't in the mood to fuck about with the Windows API.

Also, when you select text you're going to send, and press CTRL+b, it automatically adds asterix' around the text, so it will become bold. Same for CTRL+i (italic). I also captured the settings panel:

awesome..you need a logo and a name..Plus!...dunno if that will work much because of messenger plus! It can lead to confusion! But anyways....I like it!

I don't really like the idea of smilies as googles are perfect, and the whole point of this client is simplicity :)! If Patchou even meant a possible plus for google talk then he should only focus on bare essential features, and ones that google probably won't incorporate in the near future. :)

I"m sure google will implement multiple convos soon, which is why i don't think it should be developed :P, as for Patchou being able to make something soon Juzzi i doubt that he could quickly port such a thing over to a different client.

Judging by the overly spacious options dialog and the early beta stage this thing is in I wouldn't be too quick to add features to Google Talk - they will probably appear as standard soon.  For example I can't believe that they're making the effort to colour in smileys without intending on having actual images eventually.  Exciting to think Patchou's in on in though.

Well this is just a cooment but Patchou spends time on MSgPlus for MSN but why did he start on google talk, why didnt he start on AIM i understand y google talk plus needs thoughs features but still he could of started on ICQ as well why google talk.

I am not angery or disapoited but why not other aim you could get more publicty and maybe........CNN......ooooooooo

G.Talk is more likely to become a great client than AOL, Yahoo and ICQ all together :)

However if Patchou or some one else makes this add-on then they will have to recognise Gtalk is popular because of its simplicity - features in the current msgplus will remove this simplicity of Gtalk and possibly bloat its simplicity. However many features of msgplus would be perfect for Gtalk, adding the right level of functionality without all the unnecessary stuff :).

Gtalk would be awesome with command such as /away, /naway /all, /block in particular due to the current method of blocking witch is a tad annoying. Logging etc would also be nice! Notifications.. and so on!

Totally agree :) GtalkPlus! could easily be a lightweight addon, all the bloat features like sounds and stuff wouldn't belong in such an addon... All it would need are [u]encrypted[/b] chatlogging, easy commands (/me, /busy /custom, /block...) and that's even all I can think of that I would really need... On the other hand, it's still in bèta... Who knows what google will be adding in the future :)

No no :S, i say that we have too much time to use for programing and translate programs (we have a good Team).

And in the other side..., we have experience in programing and translating in a lot of programs not only for Google Talk :P

We can´t have too much time programing things for Google Talk :)

did you notice that you are talking about translating a program which does not exist yet? Besides, Patchou NEVER said that he was developing a G-Plus! or whatever, he simply said that he started a new project.
The fact that he posted that information on this thread doesnt mean that his project has something to do with Gtalk (i know what juzzi said, but you cant be sure until patchou himself announces it). Let's just wait for him to post more information about his new project. Until then, dont talk about it as if it was a fact :P

PS: GoogleHabla, i wouldn't trust the translation of w/e patchou's new project is, to a site that leaked a beta of Messenger Plus! :P. So just forget about it :). That's what you get for doing that kind of stuff anyway ;)
