Ok people, i calling out to all of those uber-modders and expert-designers here, my theme and general set-up for my apperance for my computer is generally very crappy, as shown by the image below (click to open in a new window and see full size!):



So, i was wondering, any of you designing gods want to post any of your uber-cool computer looks and shed some light onto how to create a good looking computer through some graphics. So, my equipment, i have the good old Microsoft programmes that come standard but also have Adobe Photoshop 7.0.... dunno if its any good tho... . Please provide some ideas for my situation of no style/designing qualities what-so-ever and maybe even provide a screen-shot or two, thanks guys, looking forward to seein any suggestions!!

yes it might not be... but i wanted info on how to customize windows fully, im a noob in that area u see, any more tips and tricks from anyone? btw at the end of this i'll post my destop before and after to demonstrate what a noob can do with the right tools, lol

themexp.org, was lush in the good ol' days, but since they changed management a few years ago.

pah now it's just packed with adverts, and it runs so slowly. additionally they've three times rejected my theme, because it has tux as part of the theme. I've repeatedly shown them my permition and given credit etc etc to. but each time i submit i get the same message. GRRRR.

My computer doesn't really handle sylexp well, or any other fancy things(i need more ram). although i do occasionally revert to my msstyles.

I just use good ol' Windows Classic, but as a tip: i quite like having a full row of LARGE quick-launch buttons.


You can do that by right-clicking on the quicklaunch bar, then going to "view" then clicking on "Large icons"

Thats a nice desktop-stuff on it:

1. Rainlendar - calendar on desktop
2. Yz Dock - the dock at the bottom
3. AveDesk - for the ftp drop file at the bottom right, and the notes system on the desktop
4. Samurize - for the drives and stuff at top right
5. Foobar with foocontrols plugin - this allows me to control the music from the taskbar, as shown on the top left

i've just made a wall paper with some poems and quotes which i like reading, it's quite nice to have Conforting stuff in an everyday environment, aka my pc.

also some random roses scattered around the screen too

wait a min... scoping through this thread again ive spotted a new icon thing, i think its for internet explorer; the picture of the globe that has the orage stuff at the bottom, can be see on peguin boys large start bar on page two, is this a new version of internet explorer or can i get this icon from somewhere??
