I read that I can fx the 80004005 error with disabling the Custom Names. This seems to work. (Version 7.5 (299)

However is there a fix for this issue?
Does anyone know why is crashes messenger/doesnt let it connect?

Otherwise I'll wind back to a BETA 7.5, (where do I get that?)

Messenger Plus! will give you some errors when running it with 7.5 beta, as it is not fully compatible with it just yet, and won't be until it is publically released as a final (afaik).

It is only 95% compatible with the public beta though, and you can download this from http://messenger.msn.com/.

OK, ta.
I have 7.5 final and it all works (AFAIK) appart from custom names.

SO really, its a case of stick with it till the newer version of PLUS! comes out.

Yeah, the new version of Messenger Plus! shouldn't really take much longer to come out, sometime in September probably.

NB: For Patchou: RE 80004005 - Custom Names? by mg-max on 09-07-2005 at 01:22 PM

PATCHOU,

It started happening again, even with the BETA version.
I have rebuilt my PC in case this would help (needed doing anyway), still to no avail.

SO in short, if the "Use Custom Names" is ticked, I can't log in.

I have Vanilla XP (plus SP2 et al) and Vanilla 7.5.

Is there something you'd like me to test?
