No Bluetooth Devices icon in Control Panel/XP SP2 by alegator on 09-01-2005 at 07:23 AM

Hi, I have WinXP SP2 and in Control Panel there's supposed to be a Bluetooth Devices icon but I can't find it. How can I fix this? Thanks.

More info, please! As far as I know the reason you can't see Bluetooth Devices in the Control Panel is because you don't have one :P
What model is your bluetooth dongle, and what steps have you taken to install it?

I don't currently have any Bluetooth hardware installed in my PC, but I'm planning on buying a BT USB adapter to be able to make my PC BT ready to connect with my mobile phone. Anyways, in getting ready for this I checked the Control Panel and can't see a "Bluetooth Devices" icon. Is this because I have no BT hardware installed or is this icon supposed to show anyways?

I'm pretty sure that the difference is minimal between brands.
As for the range, I Have a class 1 device (100 metres) but my phone itself is class 2 (10 metres), the only reason I paid more for a greater range is that hopefully I will make use of this in future.

The Bluetooth icon will ONLY appear when you install you Bluetooth drivers. I recommend NOT to use the SP2 build-in drivers for Bluetooth, because they are limited in fuctions. Alternatives are i.E. BlueSoleil
