Will there ever be a Macintosh version of Messenger Plus! ?
No, there will never be a Macintosh version of Messenger Plus! due to several reasons including these ones:

I, the author, do not have a Macintosh
The Macintosh platform does not have the technology (API) for an add-on like Messenger Plus!

The aMSN project team do have Plus! compatibility on their todo list, but it's right at the bottom.

You do have to think with Apple's move to X86 what could that bring to the future........
It could get a better API. Just imagine what it would mean for the name Patchou to be associated with Windows, Mac and Linux.

I was wondering the other day why Patchou hasnt ported Plus! to Linux but then I came to the conclusion that I think all software on Linux must be open-source so that would automatically drain that idea down the drain.

Apple's move to x86 won't affect the way Messenger for Mac is implemented. If an API in the Mac Messenger was in demand, it would have been put in already.

Not all software on Linux is open source. You can play Unreal Tournament 2004 on Linux, and that's closed source. In fact, there's nothing at all stopping people using closed-source programs on an open-source OS, same as there's nothing stopping you running open-source apps on Windows, a closed-source OS.
Then you have Mac OS X, based on FreeBSD. FreeBSD is open-source, but the OS X specific additions are closed source.

It all depends on whether you want to release the source or not.

Edit: I almost forgot, use Wine on Linux, and you can run Windows programs.
