i downloaded various MP4 videos made for the psp, but i want to view them before i copy them to my psp, is that a way to view them?

I couldn't get mp4 videos to play with Quicktime 6, but it did with VLC media player

That's probably because MP4 is a relatively new format, and you haven't updated QuickTime to the latest version (6.5 I think).

Actually I have 6.5.2 with all the current updates

Under Input formats - Real: No.
So not everything plays on VLC. Real Video doesn't, nor do videos compressed with Indeo 4/5.
And WMV only plays on Windows.

Not according the that page I linked to.
I will admit it will play WMV 1/2 on all platforms, but WMV 3 is WIndows-only.

OH well.. I have Media Player Classic with a shitload of codecs and vlc, so If something doesn't play on one of them, I still have the other
And just updated to Quicktime 7 Pro
and that one also can't play my mp4 files, maybe a special codec or something?

I've got QTPlayer 6.5.2 on my machine, and that has the MP4 codec installed. Maybe you missed something in the installation?

MP4 is a container format comparable to AVI. It can contain audio and video streams (among subtitles and others).
If either of these has been encoded, you will need the corresponding codec. Chances are that you already have this, or a compatible one. If you have only a compatible/generic codec, you will most likely gain increased performance and quality by aquiring the correct codec.

mp4 plays fine in quicktime 7 pro for me, and i dont have vlc - vlc fucked up my codecs and it screwed up videos played in browsers, and when watching videos in it every now and then they went screwy, so i uninstalled and everything works fine
