If you want something free, you can just use ShoutCAST to host it, and it would stream on WinAMP, and other programs (not sure.).

You need a really good connection, with a good UPLOAD, not download only, you UPLOAD music to people, so you need a good connection.  On any DSL service, you won't be able to stream more than 2/3 people MAX.

There are cheap company's for about 5-10$ per month for ShoutCAST hosting, so what they do is, you stream to the server (speed doesnt matter, just a fairly good connection), The server you will stream to has a fast connection (usually T1/T3), which will stream faster, resulting in more people able to listen.  Then you could go for 300/400 people, but you are simply streaming to server.

The onyl problem with trying to 'dumb down' the lingo is that so much of the lingo is important. When peope start talking about upload bandwidth, TCP ports and the like, it's because that's really the only way to talk about it.
If you want a sort of 'Networking 101', I'm happy to give it a go ;)

I don't know about setting it up, but I can attempt a 'de-lingo-fication'.

I know how to set it up, etc.  You just gotta read the HOWTO's. ;)

Anyways, I don't think your broadband connection will be enough, most or ALL internet DSL company's provide 786/384 or less upload speed, I really doubt they would give more.  You'll be able to handle a few listeners, but don't think alot.
