"what i'm listening to" for winamp WITHOUT WMP installed. by nympholept on 09-14-2005 at 04:17 AM

I've tried 8 different (half-assed) plugins that are supposed to enable "what i'm listening to" to use winamp.
But they only work if you have WMP installed, but once i remove WMP, i only get an error saying that it needs to be installed.
It seems pretty useless to require WMP to be installed to use winamp with "what i'm listening to".

Does anyone know of one that will work without having WMP installed?
I've searched this forum and 3 others, but no answers

you need to manually change some registry values...

try this

Indeed, why not just install winamp? its not like it takes up much space and many programs require it

he's talking about msn messenger requiring WMP to be installed, which can be bypassed using provolino's link (you need to copy-paste the link though)

No, it doesn't.  Did you bother to read my original post?  This one, like all the others, is just a winamp plugin, and doesn't do anything about MSN requiring windows media player to be installed.

It took me long enough to get rid of the damn thing, why would i want to reinstall it, when i'm not going to use it?

Thankyou, I had a feeling that would end up being the solution, if I didn't get a helpful answer here, i was going to install WMP, copy the registry keys, uninstall it again and replace the keys.
