Ok well everytime i get connected to my FTP, it times out after 15mins of inactivity, problem is im upload big files and they take more than 15 mins, so after 15 mins it gives me : COnnection timed out

and everything gets fucked.. plz help

I got cpanel 10 :S

FTP has nothing to do with cpanel.....

try using cpanel to upload the file and not ftp *-)

Well that *should* work.

However it should be in cpanel somewhere to stop disconnecting after a period of time. I believe I saw that somewhere.

see in your ftp client settings for settings to keep connection alive
or pinging the server to notify ftp server to stay connected

that depends from which lient you use !

As far as I know, its in the conf for the FTPd your host is running. Contact them to increase the timeout, or try using a better ftp client and see if that fixes it.

SmartFTP sends NOOPS each while to prevent timeouts.

Yeah but he's talking about timeouts whilst transferring a file. That counts as activity so it's not normal for the server to disconnect him.

I check my cpanel and I can't find where it was. I suggest download another client than smartftp. I myself used to use smartftp and it would timeout.

I suggest filezilla...it stays connected longer.
