Don't know if it's a bug or not...MSG Plus 3.60 by :No-Frost: on 09-27-2005 at 01:30 PM

Ok, using Tab's conversation, I noticed if I had open a conversation with one contact and another contact talk to me (having another window opened, like opera web browser or office...) the contact button doesn't flahs to "tell me" that I had a pending conversation...

Any way to fix this...

i find that it only flases if you person who's tab you are currently viewing sends you a message if that makes sense

What MSN Messenger versions are you using?

Do you mean the taskbar or the tabbed convo bar?

Edit: I see what you mean.

There is a delay which you can change in the registry (or Plus! Tweak!). The key is GroupAutoSwitchDelay (it's not in charge of the flashing, but it's related)...

I believe it's 15 seconds (15000 miliseconds). Did you wait that long and it still didn't flash?

MSN Messenger 7 (latest) and it works fine here (with the delay). (Y)

Indeed! I didn't notice their windows were active... It flashed for me because I obviously left it in the background (inactive). :P

like it will be flashing in the tabbed convo bar, but not the task bar, im using the latest of everything (always keep up :P). i'm not sure it's a bug either... but may as well bring it to someone's attention

the taskbar...

Lordy16 knows exactly what I mean to ^^...

I can't use any kind of sound at the night (because my fathers are sleeping), so I was thinking about the posibility to change that...

Another good "addon" could be a "close window" button... like in opera tab's... see the SS below

PD: I'm using the latest MSN Messenger and of course the latest MSG Plus!

Yeh i also have this problem. To give everyone else a better idea, heres some screenies

Say somebody will talk while im chatting in another convo and i get the orange alert on the tab

Then i decide to minimise the convo without clicking the tab to look at the convo, the taskbar wont turn orange

That's normal behaviour if you ask me. You already had your convo window open, thus MSN Messenger isn't going to flash the taskbar button anymore.

The taskbar button flashes only when the conversation window is not active! This has always been the case in MSN Messenger and still is.

As for (not) flashing taskbar buttons when you are in a tabbed convo, see Leo's post and the special registry setting for that.

There is no need. Just press the red X like you always would...

(When you hold CTRL down and press the red X, then all convo's will be closed; This behavior can be inversed with the "GroupCtrlCloseAll" registry setting.)

Please read the official changelog to know how the tabs work... ;)

:P you get it wrong... I don't need to change the sounds :P, I'm saying that, if it's possible to change the flashing button so it can display the flash when someone has another windows opened (office for example) and in the tab, another person talks... (damn my english sux xD)

Well I think third dimension and lordy16 can explain it better thanI xD...

The opera butons was just an example on how would look good the tabs in msg plus ^^...

The flashing behaviour is meant to be as useful as possible. If you receive a message in a window that's curently not active, Messenger Plus! will active it after some delay and it wil lthen flash in the taskbar. I hope you'll get used to it, it's the best implementation I could think of :).

RE: Don't know if it's a bug or not...MSG Plus 3.60 by lordy on 09-27-2005 at 11:34 PM

now that i think about it, it would be rather difficult to have it any other way.

eg. what happens when two people send a message at once?? then they are fighting for the taskbar... looks like a crash waiting to happen :P

this is a very good implementation nowi thihnk of it well done patchou

lol, don't worry, if many windows flash together, only one will be actived and once you active it, the other ones will be considered :).

RE: Don't know if it's a bug or not...MSG Plus 3.60 by :No-Frost: on 09-28-2005 at 12:37 PM

Ok... well I will had to get use to it ^^...

But, what about the "X" button in the tabs ņike in opera???

That could be usefull, because some times I doubt in pulse the X of the main window :P

RE: Don't know if it's a bug or not...MSG Plus 3.60 by lordy on 09-28-2005 at 12:39 PM

the X in the main windows closes the tab you are in if you press ctrl + the X button it closes all the tabs
