VCR to PC to CD-R/DVD-R Recording? by Y2Pdogg on 10-04-2005 at 04:24 AM

ok, I found some old tapes of stuff I had recorded and well there was lines through them and stuff...so I was thinking maybe I would take my recent tapes I've recorded of stuff and put them on my computer and then to CD-R/DVD-Rs for saving.

What exactly do I need to do this? I know I probably need to get a DVD Burner of course if I want to put on DVD-Rs but what do I need to send stuff from my VCR to my PC? A TV-Tuner?

Also, If you know of a good brand...plz let me know

EDIT: Also, I'm sure I'm going to need a good movie editing software to edit the commercials and stuff out from things I've recorded so if you know a good program that'll do that..plz let me know also.

Yup get a tv tuner card or even a video card w/tv tuner. u can always get a vid card w/ViVo (Video In Video Out) which uses RCA cables that u can connect to yur VCR.

As for Video editing i would recommend Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 - but that can get pretty expensive since it's professional grade. But u can find it on BitTorrent ;)

Well I don't need a new video card as I have a Geforce 6800 already in it but on Newegg.com when I search for a TV Tuner Card it pulls up ATI All-In-Wonder Cards for $150-$350...I don't play to spend THAT much on one...

ok, well just look at the back of the card, where u plus in the monitor, u should c a round port, almost like a p/s2 port, that's the ViVo connection, and u shoudl have an external box, to plus in yur tv cables in (RCA or S-Video)

alright, so i don't think u have a ViVo connection, so i think the only option is to get a tv tuner card
