The letters "r", "y", and "i" are generating "5r" "7y" and "8i" when pressed. I have to go back and delete them. The space also causes my computer to system beep.

Example of what happens without corrections :

"th8is i8s a test and i8 am be8ing p8issed off and 8i want to k8ill m7yself. the5re has neve5r been anothe5r t8ime whe5re 8i was ang5r7y l8ike th8is."

RE: Help with keyboard by dotNorma on 10-08-2005 at 02:01 AM

do you have numlock or anything similar on?

RE: Help with keyboard by kangie on 10-08-2005 at 03:32 AM

I had that problem... have you tried removing all the problem keys and checking theyre not gunged up or anything. I had to get a new keyb when it happened to me, as trying to fix it made my "6" key jam on when i pressed u, i, j, k, m and , :(

Jusdging by the fact those keys are next to the ones that are randomly being pressed, i sounds like youve got to have something under them, or its screwed up and a new one is the only option :)

Alright, I am about to check under the keyboard. But it happened with another keyboard I had to...I hope its not my motherboard.

And, Im sorry that my replies arent as long and detailed as they ought to be, but it is really hard to type something decent without getting aggrivated.

that is probably the mostannoying thing in the world, im not sure what could cause that problem, its most likely the input into the computer, check if the ports are clean etc...

i had same/similar problem last week i spilt guiness in mine but it was seriously gunkd when i took it apart anyway so I got a USB keyboard and unfortunately youm cannot use it during startup (so no advanced/ editing options for me) unless any of you know a solution

I have this same problem on my laptop. I have a usb keyboard plugged in because i prefer the fullsize keyboard and if i happen to have "Num Lock" on on the usb keyboard and then type with the proper laptop one this exact same thing will happen. If i look on the keys you can see that there is numbers written in the bottom corner that is infact the laptop numpad.
Would this be the case with you? i know it sounds pretty simple but that is like the exact problem i have if i have num lock on.

i always have num lock disabled, so no i don't think it is the same
