Outlook 2003 Help by Salem on 10-11-2005 at 05:51 PM

Hi

Just need some help with Outlook 2003. I have been using IncrediMail Xe for about 3 years, but have decided to go back to Outlook as IncrediMail no longer have a Junk Mail Filter in the free version.

However, i just have one question. In Outlook, There is the option to have Outlook suggest names from you address book as you type them in the To:, Cc: or Bcc: fields. However, it If i type "L", it does not list all contacts whose Display Names begin with "L". Why is it not listing all contacts whose Display Names begin with the letter i type in these fields?

I would have thought this would be possible as IncrediMail Xe did this and i think Outlook Express did too. If there is a setting that is wrong please can someone tell me where, i've looked throught all the Options but have found nothing.

Thanks in Advance
RileyM

I'm not an advanced user in Outlook, but maybe the menu only shows emails you have already used in the past?

Like in IE or Firefox, if you type something in a textbox it sometimes saves so when you come back you press the letter it begins with and its there.

I know that it's not IE or FF, but you know what I mean! Maybe it's like that? Try sending some emails first then try seeing if they are in the dropdown menu? Or maybe it just doesn't have it.

Sorry for naff answer.

Well...i don't think it only shows address you've mailed to before, coz i know for sure that i have send a message to someone and it has not started appearing as i type in the To etc. fields.

Outlook does have this feature it is working for some of the people in my address book, just not all of them.

Hop i can  get this sorted out

Outlook does use that feature, Just give it some time to learn. It does only use e-mail address that you have e-mailed already. If you start typing a name and tab of the feild, it will check your address book for it when you hit send. If there is more then one option it will prompt you about it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks this has helped. One other thing, can Outlook be opened at system start-up but only in the system tray. I know about opening it at start-up via the Start-Up folder, however is the a parameter i can use so that it opens minimised (in system tray) at start up?

There is a registry key to enable this if I remember correctly, I'll look around.

Edit: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=251340 with 2002 it's possible without registry editing, don't know if it works on 2003 too.
