Xbox Fan Question by prashker on 10-13-2005 at 01:49 PM

On a Normal unmodded Xbox the fan speed is always 30%.
On a Modded Xbox there is a Fan Override. WHich can make it go to 100 but it makes more noise.

I have it set to 30%.

I was trying to transfer some files to my xbox OVERNIGHT with the fan at 30%.

When I woke up my xbox was off.

At first I thought my dad or bro turned it off but I did it again. I sat beside my xbox for 6hours and it just shut off.

Does that mean it overheated and shut off?

And if so would making the fan go faster dammage the xbox?

Check your console options. One of them is the 6 hour automatic shut off if the box is left idle :P

Definately sounds like you have the auto-off option enabled. Check both the X-Box dashboard and your mod-chip options(if you have one)

I have never heard of an X-Box doing this, but I could be wrong

No, but it might wear out the fan faster
