If you don't play games or anything, don't try to find the top of line card.

I'm just about to buy a laptop for uni - I think I'm going to go for an Apple PowerBook. I can do everything I can on Windows (a lot easier infact) and if I wanted to play games (I don't usually play games) I still can.

If you are still in education, you can get educational discount.

Why don't you buy a dell? They offer complete systems often including anti-virus/firewall and are ready to use when you buy them :). (And they have good low pricing..)

my bet would be on compaq atm.. i'm a fan of amd and hp/compaq are the only oem manufactures that i could find with a decent name and amd.  dells are usually cheap though.

To be honest, if you want to buy something new that will last, I d suggest u going for a celeron and a min. of 512 Mb of memory.. Try checking on acer for some good prices. Compaq And Hp are rlly good too, id suggest them over Acer, but I gotta admit it's a little pricier.. :S
