Is there any timed nick changer? by CartoonKid on 10-20-2005 at 10:43 AM

Hi all,
I would like to ask if there is any timed nick name changer out there? I am looking for one. Because I want it to change the nick name for me at different time frame. Say in the morning, i want my nick to be "Good morning"; in the afternoon, "Good afternoon" and similar for night. The whole process should be fully automated with accordance to the time of our operating systems.

Thanks in advance for input.

Regards,
CartoonKid

Perhaps NickChange Plugin is what you're looking for :)

NickChange Plugin doesn't exactly what you are looking for, but it may be a nice feature. I'll think about it(Y)

(I'm the writer btw ;-))

Suddenly i have an idea here. If this timed nick changer can be done. Then perhaps we could change our nickname every second according to the OS time. It would turn out that the nickname is animating. But would the server update our nickname so fast for others to catch it in time?

That idea has been suggested before, CartoonKid, and apart from the fact that many people agreed that it would be very annoying, it seems to be impossible because the server indeed has flood protection.

As far as I know, the maximum is 10 changes a minute, so that's 6 seconds between each change... That's why NickChange's minimum is 10 seconds, that's a "safe" amount of time to avoid problems...

So an option is to make a plugin that changes your name every minute according to the system time, but that isn't very interesting...

Not to mention, but you're event log would get very long, very fast if somebody kept changing their nick that often. As for those with nick chage notifications, this would just be hell, with a illion popup windows crowding the screen.

overall, bad idea
