Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by Jedimark on 10-22-2005 at 12:28 PM

I've created a cut down version of Music Logger Plus that doesn't contain any of the GUI / logging features of Music Logger Plus.

However, it *does* write to the MsgPlus! EventLog (providing the user has the option enabled in the preferences).

You can download it here:
http://mlp.jedimark.co.uk/light.html

I'd be greatfull if people could test it for me.

Also, I have updated the normal Music Logger Plus application to include the MsgPlus! EventLog integration (this is an option that can be toggled on or off), and you can also now erase the music database if you want.

good work :)

Edit: May the force be with you too :P

It's great that you've added the function to integrate the logs into the Plus! logging window. It got a bit annoing having to type in the command - especially if there were no active conversations.

Looks great i've added the news too :P

I dont like the current mlp because of the gui is horrible (the the background bits) the top bar and prefences  in my view and the insatller is really annoying :P

I'm going to test this version :)

Could you explain a bit more? Comments are always welcome. I thought the GUI looks rather professional yet simple.

I tried to make the installer as simple to use aswell. It only takes 15 seconds to install the thing and the user doesn't really have to do anything. A hell of a lot simpler than having to install manually using RegAsm.exe etc.

But your suggestions would be most welcome...

Exactly what do you mean by a horrible GUI? Sorry to take personal jibes but you couldn't design anything even if you ripped it off someone else. I spent a good amount of time on the graphics for the plugin and I do not see why you hate it? I would love to see your attempt and if its better than my new design that I am working on, if it is then I will say that the current UI is horrible.

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by absorbation on 10-23-2005 at 10:41 AM

not the background patches :) that rocked i'm talking about the full screen insatller, and the blue top bar i reather it fit in with my windows theme :)

I also think the about box should list the commands you can type :)

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by user35870 on 10-23-2005 at 11:11 AM

Looks Good (Y) Keep it up :).

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by Jedimark on 10-23-2005 at 11:26 AM

Okay, well I couldn't care less about the installer! (As long as it works.. heheh). I still don't know what you mean about the "blue top bar" though.

The about box does list the commands that you can type, it always has done. There is only the one command that you can type, /xmlp.

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by absorbation on 10-23-2005 at 12:57 PM

well the about box should be the config in my view. And the icon in the taskbar (the plus one) when the about box is open is very pixelated, i suggest you replace that

And ask TB for his insatller script (he makes some for people) i hate full screen insatllations too it puts me off installing the plugin for some reason :P well those are my suggestions to make it even more professional ;)

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by Max on 10-23-2005 at 01:41 PM

TB's installer is already posted on the forums. ;)

Sounds like a wonderful idea.
RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by kierant on 10-23-2005 at 02:48 PM

This was working fine yesterday but today it is suddenly adding double entries for each song. Any idea why?

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by Jedimark on 10-23-2005 at 02:57 PM

Possibly you've clicked the "Reload" button? For some reason there are two listener threads running (hence adding the songs twice).

If you close down MSN Messenger completely and then start again does it still happen?

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by kierant on 10-23-2005 at 03:02 PM

Well restarting Messenger solved the problem so thanks.

I'm sure I didn't select reload though - I haven't changed any settings from yesterday at all and the compter was left on overnight. Oh well, at least it fixed.

Thanks

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by Jedimark on 10-23-2005 at 03:11 PM

I've seen this problem a few times myself, I can't quite figure it out. It could be just the protocol is sending the message twice.. it could be something else. I suppose an easy fix would be for me to compare what the last song added to the EventLog was and if it's the same song (from the same contact) then just disregard it.

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by kierant on 10-23-2005 at 03:18 PM

That would be a good idea, although  maybe only within a given timeframe, say 10 seconds after it was first logged. I say this because some people may genuinely be playing the same song on repeat and if they played it x amount of times it would only show as once (do correct me if I'm wrong).

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by The_Joker on 10-23-2005 at 03:56 PM

I've got an annoying problem with MLP.
well, it's not exactly a problem...
MLP doesn't support Hebrew characters, so when my contacts play songs with HEbrew names it just show stange signs ('x's and squares).
Screen shot attached.

Oh... erm.. erm...!

Anyone know anything about this?

RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by Ezra on 10-23-2005 at 05:59 PM

I'm guessing you aren't using UTF encoding.

I'll look into it, MLP just takes the data from inside the UBX packet and places it into a text box really!
RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by The_Joker on 10-23-2005 at 09:05 PM

ok, thank you.

btw, just found another bug :P
I have v2.3d, the latest, yet everytime I sign in it tells me there is a newer version, I click it and go to the homepage, it says that the latest ver is 2.3d, what I have ^o)

Well if you are just putting it into a textbox and if its coded in VB then that explains it, the default controls in VB aren't unicode compatible.

It's C#, but the principle's probably the same. Won't be too difficult to fix, though a busy week at work this week I think so prob wont work on MLP for another week now.

Doh... this is a new one! Doesn't happen for me...
Goto:
http://www.jedimark.co.uk/mlp/version.txt

It should read
code:
5
http://mlp.jedimark.co.uk/
If it doesn't then CTRL+F5 to refresh the page.
RE: Music Logger Plus LIGHT + Updated MLP by The_Joker on 10-23-2005 at 09:14 PM

lol, just found out another "bug" :P
Clicking on the link goes to the homepage (http://mlp.jedimark.co.uk/), however when clicking on the main page in http://mlp.jedimark.co.uk/light.html it goes to http://mlp.jedimark.co.uk/index.html and it seems like 2 different pages (on still says the light ver is coming soon, the latter says it has already been released.

I think *possibly* you just need to refresh your cache. The main index.html page is for the main MLP application. The light.html page is specifically for the light version of MLP the content is totally different.

If it says "coming soon" on the index.html page then refresh your browser, 'cause I updated it a few hours ago.

it was 4, now it's 5.

EDIT: updated with the site too.
strange, as I cleared my cache few times today...
http://mlp.jedimark.co.uk/ and http://mlp.jedimark.co.uk/index.html are the same, so if one is updated how is the second not?

lol, your guess is as good as mine! They're the same page! If you go to the root the webserver looks for the existance of index.html and sends you to that page...
