not I. Hell, I'm only using 3% of my gmail account. Who needs this shit?

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by Rubber Stamp on 10-25-2005 at 03:51 PM

thats rite, no one can reach that limit, so we cant even confirm that they really give 1000 GB, i doubt that they can give 1000 GB but no one will be able to know that.

Tbh, I can't believe people still fall for this stuff. Especially people who know what 1000GB is... :-/

Of course it's a lie. There was another one, which offered 1000MB (around the time GMail was launched), and people would join. But it was just a simple mail() function, the accounts didn't exist!

Unless they're a big company with lots of $$$$ in their pockets, those who offer more than 6-10MB are not to be taken seriously.
RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by saralk on 10-25-2005 at 04:45 PM

it is possible for the company to offer 1,000s of GBs in theory, most of the companies work on the basis that not everyone will use all the space, i highly doubt that gMail has 2gb or whatever for every user, they most probably use compression and rely on the fact that not everyone will use 2GB of space.

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by Val on 10-25-2005 at 04:46 PM

google is one of the only ones you can trust and who knows thers a little counter on the homepage how the space grows..... i wonder where they get all their space and $$$ surly ad words dosent bring in that much $$$

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by Ezra on 10-25-2005 at 05:39 PM

You'd be surprised how much they make on ads :)

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by John Anderton on 10-25-2005 at 06:12 PM

Webserver with lotsa space plus 2 gmail accounts should get me through the next few yrs :P Anyways ..... none of us need it at the moment :S

There was a similar 100 gm one called hellriders or something about 9 months back :P

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by YottabyteWizard on 10-25-2005 at 08:02 PM

Bah, what they do to get users. I'm using aprox 3% with my gmail account and around 180 GBs in my computer. If i can't use the 250 GBs of my computer how the hell am i supposed to use 1000 GB of emails!?

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by prashker on 10-25-2005 at 08:15 PM

I have already posted this :P

1 TB email service...

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by toddiot on 10-25-2005 at 08:50 PM

about how many emails worth is 1000GB anyway?

lol, i'm even happy with my hotmail - 250MB is just fine for me (2% used) and i barely delete any of my emails.

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by brian on 10-25-2005 at 09:30 PM

First it's called 1 Terrabyte. =p

Anyways, probably all lies.. almost no one has 1 TB storage "at-his-home", not either you joined a hosting company that offered that, not one dedicated service has even offered that, they obviously rely on "no-one-will-use-it-all" stuff.

ot the same provider but it shows 1TB emails are nothing new ( and both of your topic titles are focused on the 1TB email fact ).

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by Discrate on 10-26-2005 at 07:53 AM

whats the point in having that much when you would never use that much space ill just stick with my gmail account and with my g-mail account at the moment im not even using 1%

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by Chestah on 10-26-2005 at 08:42 AM

yeah, it would be uneconomical to have enough space for all the accounts google has. They'll just add more HDD's when its necessary.

RE: Free 1000GB Email!!! by BBmad on 10-26-2005 at 09:28 AM

Also, people with these service providers often also use their instant messaging services (how many people on your Messenger contact list have addresses @hotmail.com?). It is a hassle to change providers because of this, and you need to notify people of your new address.

I started using Gmail primarily for email, but still use my previous Hotmail account with MSN Messenger.

Also remember, like a few people have mentioned, just because they promise 1000 GB os storage, they don't necessarily have all that free space, most likely not even half of it. There would be only a few users who reach their quota, but most probably use not even 0.001% of their available space.

I'm using 2% of my Gmail account.

PS where are all these "old news" and "the faster you download" pictures? (Does asking this make me n00b? (Does asking if I'm n00b make me even more n00b (etc)))

hey,

I agree with you all about that sites that provided huge amount of space isn't the matter it's if it's famous and easy to remember or not.

While searching the web i found a site offering Unlimited Space called  ShinnyFeet.

well some few people may benefit of it, but i dont recomment it , repeating that 2gb offer by GMAIL are quite enough and from a company that we shoudn't think twice before joining it :).
