XP broken shortcuts by Yousef on 10-25-2005 at 08:36 PM

suddenly all my shortcuts don't work anymore. Even the items in my start menu don't work anymore (except a few: email/internet/flashfxp :dodgy:, and the items like my documents, my computer). Almost everything appears like this:

Anyone knows what to do?

    * Verify that the shortcuts you're using to start the programs points to the correct file to start the program.
    * Run Scandisk (or Check Disk, in Windows XP).
    * Run the Disk Defragmenter.
    * Turn off any programs running in the background, particularly antivirus programs.and see if the antivirus programs are interferring with the shortcuts and startup menu.

I didn't do anything with the registry manually. The links in the shortcuts are correct, when I copy them to start->run it works, although nothing happens when I double click them.
Therefor the shortcut repair tool didn't help.

I'll try the other things beamy-kitty suggested this afternoon, thanks.

I ran disk fragmenter defragmenter, nothing changed..
I also tried to check disk, but it 'could not complete check disk' (even in safe mode).

Any more suggestions?
