I'm quite surprised how many upright modems there are... they're the most annoying thing ever :-/ I only got mine because it was the only reasonably priced ethernet modem at the time.

Exactly... valuable desk space is for things you actually need to touch... modems just sit there.

Some have stand-by buttons that are useful for paranoid people like me who want to quickly cut off their connections. :tongue:

And it's nice to be able to see the status lights when you're having connection trouble.

mine is like on the side of the desktop so i can see all the lights and know that is working like it is supposed to , i kjust hate the so familiar wire mess if u keep your wires neat how do u do it?

I have about 10 12 wires coming from my desktop
They all go straight down behind my computer so the desk is neat though. On the floor is where the real mess is
But who cares, cos I never go behind there anyway

my network switch in my bedroom is actually hot glued to the side of my desk.. i get the best of both worlds.
