Wouldn't that just block the process as opposed to the connection ? (Just a thought)

=====

Brooke, you should try to connect to WebMessenger in the mean time to make sure that your account can connect - and from what i read, it seems that there isn't much that can be done but wait.

Glad i could help. - well sorta ;)

RE: HELP ("service is unavailable") by stephen_wq on 10-29-2005 at 07:33 AM

Im in the same position, i have NPF as well, and i turned it off and it still won't connect. Exept, mine says some crap about a default gateway when the connection troubleshooter is run. It says it is offline.. my default gateway is nothing on my network card, and has never been anything, ever, since i connect directly through a usb adsl modem.
This problem happened as soon as i installed the latest 311 update.
I have no idea how to fix this, stupid microsoft and your badly built programs :@

RE: HELP ("service is unavailable") by absorbation on 10-29-2005 at 10:08 AM

Maybe the server is down in your area, you can just wait or use xerver :)

Download XServer to connect to a different msn server

It is usually a good idea to see if installing the latest MSN Messenger version solves your problem if you are running an older version.

And what is the error code you get, just to let know it can help more :)

RE: HELP ("service is unavailable") by stephen_wq on 10-29-2005 at 10:26 PM

Well, my point was, that i installed the latest one, and thats when it stuffed up. im on a different XP machine in the same house running the older one, and it works perfectly. No way im getting that update.

edit: woo and yay, it randomly started working after 2 restarts :S
oh well, looks like my problems solved.
No idea what was with "default gateway"

Isn't it sort of obvious that webmessenger would work after seeing the error in Troubleshoot.bmp.png?
