But I'm really busy with school, I'm in the final year, and the first batch of exams is next week *sigh*
I did *some* work on StuffPlug, but I didn't get round to actually polish it up, nor make it generic for all MSN versions, so I can't release yet...
Also I still have to re-do the SP3 GUI, so it might take a long while...
I know exams usually tend to destroy good freeware apps, and I know for a fact that I won't be too active on stuffplug in the coming year, but trust me when I say that I will be back the year after smile.gif
I've seen some of the firstyear stuff of the university I want to attend (most likely TU Delft, Technische Informatica, anyone else going to the introduction days tomorrow and the day after?), and it all seems pretty easy :)

Sorce: Stuffplug

This is bad news for the plugin and maybe web2messenger

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by Hank on 10-29-2005 at 11:37 AM

Sad News :(  ..hopefully the project can be handed over to someone else

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by DJKAL on 10-29-2005 at 12:03 PM

does this mean we'll have to wait a whole year until the next version of stuffplug? [Image: chainsaw.gif]

was so much cool stuff too :'(

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by rix on 10-29-2005 at 12:07 PM

Ofcourse it's important for TB to finish school and acquire more knowledge what he can use creating Stuffplug! :P Anyway, check out this tankwars. TB did some remake. (H)

That means he'll be back in 2007 :O

That really sucks, I just hope that the compatibilities are changed etc. :-/.

most people will discontinue using it if the project is not too active for the next 2 years.

If TB does nothing until then then he would need to give the sorce so we can add the favourite features to other plugins eg phoenix :)

He wouldn't have to do anything, TB uses up his free time to make something that you all use and if he decides he doesn't want to / doesn't have time to work on it for a while then he can do what he wants, he doesn't owe anyone anything or doesn't have to give anyone the source code.

I mean FFS if your lives revolve around StuffPlug so much you can't cope without a new release then I think you all need to find some serious help.

Do remember tho that wtbw is the one that showed TB how to start out in the MSN Messenger world. I think if some new developer asks him to share the code so he can continue it himself he should at least share some. I just hope he thinks of the community and fans of stuffplug.

That being said I wish the best for TB.

Again, as said before, he is not obligated to do that.

Anyway, did he mean 2006 or 2007? I think it's exaggerated to think he meant 2007.
RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by absorbation on 10-29-2005 at 02:35 PM

I think he will continue, maybe release some compatiblity updates but all i only use stuffplug for is when someone leaves the convosation. Which anyone can make in a new plugin :P

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by guanako on 10-29-2005 at 04:48 PM

2 years can  be long enough untill someone comes out with a new plugin, so who knows if everyone will be still using it for such along time knowing that there is something that out takes it. in the mean time wish the best to TB and lets hope he can get back at it assap...Good luck on your studies too (Y)

I agree at 99% with u, the 1% I'm against is simply the way you expressed urself, like if u wanted to kill everyone..

I got almost the same problem with my radio station, ppl keep on asking me when it will be back.. but damn.. i have no time to even finish my school projects.. how am I suposed to find time to do radio.. ? :S I think it really is too bad for StuffPlug.. because it is such a good plugin, I really like it, ven though I don't use it so much. I was looking forward to the new features. I hope W2M will noy be affected as well, but I understand TB and wish him goodluck in his studies :)

I wasn't saying that I won't spend any time on it anymore this year,
I'm saying that this year will be really busy for me, with exams and stuff, and I don't think I can spend a lot of time on SP. I know from other projects that mostly they tend to die once the developer starts his final year before uni, and I'm just saying that although I might not be active this year, I'm sure I will next year

which means 2006 not 2007:P :)

I wish him good luck with his studies:)

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by dotNorma on 10-30-2005 at 08:12 AM

Good for him (y)

He needs a break.

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by Ezra on 10-30-2005 at 05:17 PM

TU Delft is a very cool school.

The realise the coolest IT projects, like Gigapixel photo's :P

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by J-Thread on 10-30-2005 at 05:23 PM

TU's are for nerds8-| :P:P:P

I'd rather do Cognitive Artificial Intelligence at the Utrecht University.... Hey, that's what I do:D It's a cool study, if you are looking for a study, try that one, you may like it. Or ask me about it(Y)

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by TheBlasphemer on 10-30-2005 at 08:44 PM

Pfff, It's gonna be Delft, Utrecht, Leiden, or Twente, not sure about that...
But what I do know for sure is that it's gonna be Computer Science (Informatica in dutch) ;)

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by J-Thread on 10-30-2005 at 09:25 PM

Utrecht ROCKS! :P But well Twente is cool to, Leiden is more for Language freaks and Egyptologie people, and Delft is a good choice if you really want to do Informatica... I first thought about Informatica too, but it's just ONLY computers all the day... So now I'm doing CAI (or CKI in dutch, Cognitieve Kunstmatige Intelligentie) and that a bit Informatica and a bit Psychologie, Philosofie etc. By the way if you are going to study in Utrecht you should meet me;)

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by TheBlasphemer on 10-30-2005 at 09:29 PM

Well, Utrecht is highest on the international ranks, followed by Leiden. It's global, not just CS, but I think that's a pretty good indication of the international reputation of a university...
Delft seems fun, but if I'd want to go work in another country, leiden or utrecht would be better. It's fun to have loads of projects, but not at the expense of international reputation and lack of females :P

J-Thread: I'm probably coming to the "open dagen" in Utrecht soon, if you would like to meet, PM me :) (But you'll have to show me some of the studentenleven in utrecht :P!)

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by DJKAL on 10-30-2005 at 09:43 PM

arent you all posting off the topic? - the topic is stuffplug and how it wont be worked on much through the next year - not school and collage or whatever you have started talking about!

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by TheBlasphemer on 10-30-2005 at 09:48 PM

Blah, It's about stuffplug and me not having a lot of time because of school/college... I don't see why I can't share my thoughts with people interrested?
Obviously you're not interrested, so just stop reading :P?

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by J.J on 10-31-2005 at 02:30 AM

Err excuse me? It actually is on topic =\. TB is talking about his studies, which is why he won't be doing as much work on stuffplug in upcoming months. DJKAL please do not spam a topic saying people are off topic when they actually aren't :undecided:

This may be actually a little bit off topic, but I don't know other ways to contact TB. And I was just PM-ing him cool knowledges about the student life (??? studentenleven ;-)) of Utrecht :D.

I'll say something on topic too, I think it is important for TB to take a break, study is more important than stuffplug I think... But well, if TB is a real programmer (and he is :-)) than he just can't stop working on stuffplug, so I hope and think there will eventually be updates:D
RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by DreamWeb on 11-03-2005 at 03:45 AM

does this mean that that Webcam recorder that was showing such great progress is now shelved???  bummer.

d.

RE: Stuffplug no more work until next year by lordy on 11-03-2005 at 05:09 AM

notice how it says there wont be MUCH work done on it, that doesnt mean it is dead, or that nothing is going to happen on it at all, just not HEAPS
