Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by Jeffro on 11-03-2005 at 06:07 PM

Open up firefox, surf to www.live.com and it says:

Firefox Users
Firefox support is coming soon. Please be patient :-)

Microsoft finally admits that there are very much firefox users, and cant afford to disable clients like firefox!

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by Omar on 11-03-2005 at 06:42 PM

8% of the browser market is enough to get noticed...

Still IE is the big gorilla on the browser war... :P

8% of the browser market? I don't think so.

In any case, yes, it's a nice act thing to do from them.

i read that somewhere a while ago...... 8% including all Mozilla based browsers (FF; Mozilla suite, AOL, Netscape, etc)

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by Th3rmal on 11-03-2005 at 09:06 PM

ye thats a good move for ms, but they have been doing good for a long while now.... i believe Mozillas crawling its way upto number 1, i only use firefox and recommend it to my friends, its a very good program

I don't see the big deal here, live.com is merely a rehash of http://start.com which has had FireFox support for ages.

Looks nicer in IE though :P

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by thc2010 on 11-03-2005 at 11:15 PM

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by Hank on 11-03-2005 at 11:49 PM

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by kierant on 11-04-2005 at 05:20 AM

Try searching the forums (before more people give you negative reps for spamming)

EDIT: or google it, or study the link given above .... etc

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by Discrate on 11-04-2005 at 05:23 AM

instead of not answering my question please answer it. i have looked through this thread i could not find what it is for could you please tell me what microsoft live is for?

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by kierant on 11-04-2005 at 05:26 AM

http://ideas.live.com/

Like I said, try googling or using the thread given by Animal.:|

EDIT: Note that on the link I've given there are several 'Learn More' links. Use your initiative for a change and give a few of them a click before coming back and saying 'oh but what does it do...blah'

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by Exca on 11-04-2005 at 08:29 PM

I think firefox loads kinda slow :( u used both browsers at a time and you really see the difference. Firefox only displays when the page is loaded totally. IE you can already click links even if the images aren't totally loaded yet and thats useful and fast...

Microsoft is finally doing something useful?

Does virtually creating the face of computing today not count as something useful? :P

exactly!

this is not even half of half of half of half what microsoft has done i think. The threads subject is wrongly worded, seems like this the only thing microsoft has done
RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by Voldemort on 11-04-2005 at 10:13 PM

Is your O.s. useless?
i dont think so.

RE: Microsoft finally doing something usefull! by ayjay on 11-04-2005 at 10:33 PM

My stats so far suggest (For this forum only) ....
Firefox: 50.3455 %
Internet Explorer: 43.9875 %
Opera: 4.0705 %
Other Browsers: 1.5965 %

This was over the past 6 months :) (I had taken stats for 3 months before that as well but well .... i lost em :$)

I know the sum comes out to be 98 - 99 % but thats cause i negelected the remaining digits while posting the calculations here ;)
