i agree with sonicsam, its expensive, but well worth it

i don't recommend window moviemaker, very limited

Sony Vegas 4 or 5 or 6

TMPGEnc 3.0 Express

EDIT: Pinnacle Studio too (Y), but i use more TMPGEnc to reenconde videos, and make corrections, also cut and paste and add some effects.

If you want top of the range, use Avid. Best of the best! It's a bit hard to get around at first but once you have mastered you'll be amazed at some of the things you can do with it.

I think the next best one I have tried is Adobe Premier Pro.

Yeah, Avid is difficult to learn. Took me a while and even now, I am still a newb.

I am using Adobe atm. It is coming along smoothly. It is a pretty nice program.

It was version 7 then it was renamed to 1.5 and had a huge cleanup. 1.5 is better. It's newer.
