Boot sector of disk read error by RebelSean on 11-11-2005 at 09:39 PM

I was just scanning my computer for viruses, and I noticed that AVG came up with a reading error on the boot sector of my disk. Okay, so I don't know what's wrong with that, so I try running ScanDisk, and it freezes up my entire computer. So I try to de-frag it, and it also freezes on initializing tables.

I'm guessing it has to do with the boot section of my disk? Does anyone know how to recify this please?

I'm on Windows 98SE.

i'm not sure, but can't u do a fixmbr or something like it?

And i found this which might be helpful http://www.ptdd.com/fixboot.htm

On second thought, this one might be better at it:

Okay DragonX, "If you cannot access the FAT16/NTFS partition and the partition is marked with "X", right click the partition and choose Fixboot. Partition Table Doctor will automatically check and repair the boot sector of the partition." How do I get to the partitions?
