M icons have suddenly gone really wierd, they look really bad, and whenever i change the background they have like gray surrounding them...
im not sure what has caused the problem, i use style Xp, im not sure if that will help...

Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Click Settings under performance > make sure "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is enabled

thanx, had to disable it, then enable it...
