Hotmail opens 50 pop-ups by Chris4 on 11-13-2005 at 09:26 PM

It has happened twice now. Next time it happens I'll get a screenshot and some other details..

I check my emails as I usually would, I go to close hotmail and suddenly I get 50 pop-ups. I try to 'close group' but it doesn't do much as they just keep coming and coming.. and then it crashes. I try to open Task Manager but that goes all weird and can't see processes.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
Happens in Internet Explorer..

As said above, I'll get more details when it happens again..

Umm... best advice I can give you.... switch to firefox, AOL Explorer, or just some other browser.

Do a spyware/adware scan maybe?

I do use Firefox, but emails open in Internet Explorer.
And when I get it to open in Firefox, I don't have the Bold, Font etc. options on email.

I'll do a spyware scan but i'm quite shore I don't have any on my computer.

Well, one thing you could do is to make sure that you have Firefox set as your default browser. Otherwise, finding a good spyware removal tool would be very helpful (if you don't already have one). I personally suggest Spybot S&D. It works very well for me. If setting default browser doesn't work, you could just try creating a bookmark to your email page and just use that through Firefox to check emails.

I'd rather use IE for emails. Firefox is set to default. I have about 3 spyware removal tools.

Thanks :D

Why don't you use an email client to keep the bold, italics, underline, etc features, like IncrediMail? :)
Yes, it does support Hotmail, because, I use Hotmail from IncrediMail and it works perfectly ;)
It doesnt use POP3 for hotmail, but it connects to the site where the emails are shown, or something like that...

Just to clarify, FF does not get rid of spyware. It is not an anti-spyware program.

Yes, only Hotmail. I think it only happens when I go back a page.
I'll do some tests and post them here.

Problem is my computer goes completely weird. Can't click on anything, can't close them.. weird..

ive noticed firefox is getting more pops up recently, i've done the edit to try and block them as well.

back to the thread starter...

I'd suggest as stated a spyware scan. perhaps empty your temporary internet folder too via c drive, right click, disk clean up etc

you never know that might fix it
