ATI did it first... by DragonX on 11-15-2005 at 04:59 AM

Looks like ATI is the first to bring out a graphic card with 512MB of video ram (wo/Crossfire)  with their new Radeon X1800 XT. They go for $550US, so if u really wanna have the best vid card out there (and ready to blow that kinda cash), this is the card for you.

Cool :D
But 550 usd *-) Thats almost 50 - 65 % of a pc's cost :|

Actually, im pretty Sure why ATI wasnt is to allow Nvidia sales or somehting like that get better than they have been. , so im sure literally ATI brang it out first but let Nvidia bring it out to boost there sales as it hasnt been that good from what i have/had read i htink on news in neowin awhile ago

RE: ATI did it first... by Juvani_D on 11-15-2005 at 05:57 AM

Can't  they offer a price lower than that?

RE: ATI did it first... by Hank on 11-15-2005 at 06:04 AM

somehow i dont think so,  or wait a few years for the price to be cheaper

I really want to get one of the new 512Mb RAM video cards, it would be awesome! Cool thing is, I might actually have the money to buy one in a few months... Got to upgrade my RAM first though!

Is the ATi Radeon 9800 Pro worth getting?

That's what i have and i love it :D

Would have gotten a nVidia one instead but all i could afford was ATI :( - still it wasn't a bad purchase ;)
RE: ATI did it first... by user27089 on 11-15-2005 at 08:09 AM

I don't really like nVidia cards, I prefer stuff from the ATi Radeon series...

How much is the 9800 Pro and what are the specs of it... I need something that can run the following games really well:

Battlefield 2
Doom 3
Far Cry
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
Halo
Half Life 2
Counter-Strike: Sourcer
Warcraft III
Area-51

RE: ATI did it first... by Hank on 11-15-2005 at 08:39 AM

a 9800 Pro should be fine for those games trax,

That would run all the games great...

The intel card that i have runs from those games:

Doom 3
Far Cry
Halo
Half Life 2
CSS
Warcraft III
Area 51

Only chronicles and Battlefield 2 won't run it... and BF2 is my favorite game atm.. until bf2 special forces is released somewhere this motnh.. i think the 22nd.

You should get one of the newer cards really, one of the x series (but dont get x1300 because it sucks :P)
RE: ATI did it first... by user27089 on 11-15-2005 at 04:28 PM

Which of the x series would be the best for a 15 year old with not much money to get... Which runs games like a beast I mean... As in graphics all on extreme etc.

RE: ATI did it first... by SikStyles on 11-15-2005 at 08:20 PM

Pretty cool, I'd like to have it but Im not going to spend that much money on it, and by the way, im getting a 256mb (nvidia) card for free from my friend in distant lands :P

RE: ATI did it first... by brian on 11-15-2005 at 08:21 PM

I don't know why you all care about memory, memory only cache's the Textures, and has a really tiny performence difference, more important = clock time, etc.

Found these on eBay That's about the price they're worth in stores (up here anyways), but it's a good investment (for a low price)
