I don't see any major problems with calling it FF, apart from the fact I sometimes get confused and think people are talking about Final Fantasy (;p). RE: Stop Calling it FF by Hank on 11-15-2005 at 08:04 AM lots cal it FF , i dont really see any problem in calling it FF, RE: Stop Calling it FF by Varish on 11-15-2005 at 08:09 AM
When u say it (Firefox) the 2 FF stand out, so imo, FF is better since people will understand it more easily... RE: Stop Calling it FF by user27089 on 11-15-2005 at 08:10 AM Isn't Fx then name of a television channel anyway? The Fox channel? RE: Stop Calling it FF by Hank on 11-15-2005 at 08:41 AM FX is really the name AMD use for there Cpu's an i dont know if it could really be called Fx RE: Stop Calling it FF by John Anderton on 11-15-2005 at 09:35 AM
quote:True but thats what mozilla want apparently ![]() I guess they want it to be Fx not FF cause FF is an established acronym for Final Fantasy. FirefoX ![]() RE: Stop Calling it FF by Aeryn on 11-15-2005 at 02:33 PM I always call it MF, it seems the most logical acronym to me. RE: Stop Calling it FF by hmaster on 11-15-2005 at 02:50 PM ^true but FF sounds better. Fx is just wack, sounds like a version group like msn7x RE: Stop Calling it FF by wj on 11-15-2005 at 04:16 PM I'll call my browser what ever I damn well please. RE: Stop Calling it FF by stoshrocket on 11-15-2005 at 04:16 PM
maybe all you lazy, erm, people could just type Firefox instead of having to abbriviate it. This then leads to the bonus of having no-one be confused, not even people new to PC's who wouldnt understand the abbriviations meant FF for Firefox and IE for Internet Explorer, i know it took me a while to work out IE = Internet Explorer.... I call FX = IE because all my friends (that arent on this forum) they as what browser I use. I have to say IE because if I say FireFox/FX they are like "what is that" then I give them the download and explain how to use. RE: Stop Calling it FF by Underlord on 11-16-2005 at 04:27 AM
quote:I shall call it Firefox. It's just as long as "browser" and much more descriptive. RE: Stop Calling it FF by thc2010 on 11-16-2005 at 05:37 AM
I call it fireffox, becuase FF is already taken by Final Fantasy.. it would be too confusion to talk to some game maniac and say.. hey .. did you get the new version of FF? RE: Stop Calling it FF by Chris4 on 11-16-2005 at 09:19 PM
If they want you to all it Fx, why have FF on the buttons? RE: Stop Calling it FF by Negro_Joe on 11-16-2005 at 09:29 PM
Im not sure, maybe just because they want to be confusing... RE: RE: Stop Calling it FF by Salem on 11-16-2005 at 09:30 PM
quote: True, if we werent so lazy we wouldnt be having this conversation. And i agree that using the full names would make it so much easier for people new to PCs and especially Forums. I remember that i too didn't know that IE stood for Internet Explorer (and trust me that wasn't to long ago). I must admit, i too have become lazy and have started using abbreviations. I guess once we get used to it and post on places like forums we assume everyone knows what we mean when we say things like IE, FF (or Fx), WMP, MSNMsgr, MsgPlus! etc. But i must also say that i do not see why Mozilla want Firefox abbreviated to Fx. I saw that on there website a while back, and have since then tried to get into the habit of abbreviating as Fx and not FF. But it is very difficult. quote: True, i've never come across the FF buttons, but you have a point there. Maybe they saw that people call Firefox FF and not Fx like that suggested, and thus modified the buttons. This is just a guess though RE: Stop Calling it FF by lizard.boy on 11-16-2005 at 11:13 PM
