iTunes and Messenger HELP!!! by snobpride on 11-16-2005 at 02:44 PM

Hi

I'm on ITunes 6. I can't seem to get Messenger to display the song currently playing...

I just uninstalled Msgplus in fear that it might interfere but it's still not working. I have also reinstalled Messenger (7.5)

I have also tried checking the box that says open msgr window.

Nothing's working... help?

U need a plugin 2 link Messenger 2 iTunes, like the WinAmp plug.
Dunno if this already exists, but check Google. ;)

hmm... I wonce had iTunes, and it DID show what its playing... I dont think you need a plugin

MSN Messenger includes a plugin that is used for Windows Media Player and iTunes. I did a few tests and no matter what I did I couldn't break it and prevent iTunes from setting the personal message.

You can try reinstalling MSN Messenger 7.5 and make sure you have turned on "Turn on 'What I am Listening To'".

is there a section in the iTunes Options to turn on something?

RE: iTunes and Messenger HELP!!! by steVenB on 11-20-2005 at 05:22 PM

Dumb question but I'll ask anyway. Have you turned on this feature from MSN messenger? Also do you have this plugin turned on in WMP?

RE: iTunes and Messenger HELP!!! by Reaper on 11-20-2005 at 05:26 PM

no one has mentioned it and you didnt say you have done it either but, have you tried completely removing iTunes and then reinstalling?

RE: iTunes and Messenger HELP!!! by GiantSpider on 11-20-2005 at 05:28 PM

Even if the plugin is activated in WMP as long as it's not running MSN will show what is playing in iTunes so that can't be it. The only possibility is not having it activated in MSN Messenger.

Uninstalling iTunes won't cause my iTunes Library to be removed right?

Correct your library and the contents stay intact.

I tried reinstalling

1. iTunes
2. Messenger

I even updated my WMP to the latest one.

Nothing's working.

Have you installed the Windows Media Player? My friend had the same problem, and he hadn't got the Media Player, and when he reinstalled it, it worked

Have you got anything installed just before the problem began? Like a plugin for Plus! or something else?

MSN Messenger gets it from iTunes. iTunes itself hasn't got anything to do with it so no, there's no option for it included in iTunes.
