Update: EasySearch Plus! V.1.2.115 by Tobiaz on 11-19-2005 at 09:40 PM

Update December 29th, 2005:

EasySearch Plus! includes now 10 Search-Engines:

  • Google
  • A9
  • Wikipedia
  • PicSearch
  • Altavista
  • Yahoo!
  • Answers
  • MSN Search
  • Search.com
  • LookSmart

You can search for Websites, Audio, Videos, Groups, News, Maps and Encyclopedia. As little 'extra' you can do Googlefights!

Special Thanks to CookieRevised for looking at the SourceCode and fixing the bugs!

To open the Search-Window, type:
/xESPSearch

To open the About-Dialog type:
/xESPAbout

To open the Configure-Window, type:
/xESPConfigure or /xESPConfig

To make a QuickSearch type:
/xQS <search text> <search engine> <search type>

(for the <search type> part, you can use the first Letter. P.E. for 'Websites' type 'w', or for 'Pictures' type 'p' or any abbrivation starting with that first letter for that matter.
(note: these can change per language)
eg: for 'Websites': 'web', 's', 'site', etc... for 'Pictures': 'pic', 'i', 'imag', 'images', etc...)

Also, the GoogleFight can be done from the command line now:
/xQS <search text1> | <search text2> Google Fight
eg:
/xQS dark vader|yoda g f

The additional alternative abbrivations for the search engines are:
(note: these are language independant, they are not translatable)
    For AltaVista: 'alta', 'vista', 'av'
    For Answers: 'answer'
    For LookSmart: 'look', 'smart', 'ls'
    For MSN Search: 'msn', 'ms'
    For PicSearch: 'pic'
    For Search.com: 'search'
    For Wikipedia: 'wiki', 'wp'
    For Yahoo!: 'yahoo', 'y'
And any other word/letter triggers the Google search.

Feel free to send me suggestions!

Ummm this is interesting little plugin. Honestly I don't see it being all that useful tho. What you could allow is /xEspSearch <search test>,<site>,<website/images>

RE: EasySearch Plus! V.1.0.0.24 by Tobiaz on 11-20-2005 at 07:34 AM

Yes... I know. I wanted to do this in the next  update.
Something like /xEspQuickSearch <search> <site> <website>

I have allready began with that. It will be finished soon!

The idea is cool, but the command is way too long ;)

How can we remember it? :p

maybe /xqs or something is better? :)

Just a thought, no flame intended

RE: Update: EasySearch Plus! V.1.0.0.34 by Tobiaz on 11-20-2005 at 05:48 PM

Yes... that's right.
I think /xqs is an good Shortcut. I will change it in the next Update.

Thank you Sypher!

Yeah you're a hard worker(Y)

With some help you'll be creating a lot of usefull plugins

RE: Update: EasySearch Plus! V.1.0.0.34 by CookieRevised on 11-21-2005 at 12:53 AM

I hate to say this, but you're making all the same mistakes as you did with HolidayCounter. Result: same old errors popping up everywhere and stuff and thus not working as it should.

error 13
error 440
error 5
etc...
you name it :p

PS: I've just send you the fixed source from HolidayCounter, I suggest you study it. eg: the method how preferences are loaded/saved/etc, how variables are used, what to do and what not to do, etc.  Perfect one plugin first, aka: keep it to one easy plugin, like this quicksearch one, before developping more plugins.

RE: Update: EasySearch Plus! V.1.0.0.34 by Tobiaz on 12-05-2005 at 05:03 PM

So... Hello!
It's me...

I wanted to know, if someone has downloaded my plugin, and if someone found some bugs!

Cookie wrote, that at his PC some errors appears, but, is it on othermachines too!?

Thanks for reporting...

My PC isn't that special though. The reason other people might not see the errors is for example because they already had a previous version of this plugin, or already had settings in their registry. So, unfortunatly, yep the plugin contains bugs... ;)

after I got a look at the source, lots  (unless many were fixed during the updates) :D

Though I still encounter the errors with your new updates as I posted before...

-------------

Anyways, I've fixed the (old first version) source, added the stuff which you already added with your updates (so you wont loose any functionality like multi-lang, google fight, ...), added some more search engine stuff (fixed some urls, and fixed the non-encoding parsing bug), and send the new source to you. Including precompiled dll, ready to use ;)

happy easter new year...

I already updated the first post. There you can download the lates version!

Thanks again, Cookie!

;)

PS: don't forget to update the language download page on your website: http://www.esp-translation.ch.vu/ and to update the german translation file in the setup (I only translated some keys).

Oh, and the English file isn't really needed in the setup either. Though you might wanna place it on the language download page as a template for people who want to translate EasySearch.
