Well basically what happens is it downloads fine; but then when I try to install, it gets about 3 quarters done then gives me the error message:



The Messenger Plus! Hook could not be properly installed on this system. Please re-install the software.

I have tried re-installing Messenger Plus, msn itself; and nothing. If someone could help me out with installing that'd be great!

My MSN at the moment is 7.5 and the Messenger Plus version is the latest one. My windows version is XP. I just got a router so that might be the problem. I'm afraid to change any of the settings though so maybe I could get some help with that if that is indeed the problem. The download goes successfully, but the actuall installation of Messenger Plus is what's going askew. The error message is in my previous post.

I tried disabling norton while it was installing. If it means anything this was the error message:

The Messenger Plus! Hook could not be properly installed on this system. Please re-install the software.

Otherwise the download is fine; it's the installation that's not working.

What type of user account are you logged into? An administrator or a limited account?

Try right clicking on the installer and clicking Run As...
Click "The following user..."
Choose Administrator from the drop down
Enter the password (it would have been entered during the installation of Windows XP, if you don't think you did enter one just click Ok)
Try and install now.

I am an Administrator already; so that's not the case.
