RE: Firefox 1.5 officially released! by Chris4 on 11-30-2005 at 02:22 AM

- What I don't understand is.. why has it jumped from 1.0.7 to 1.5?

- Whats new in 1.5? Is everything just improved?

- Isn't getfirefox.com ment to go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ not mozilla.com ?

RE: Firefox 1.5 officially released! by Chris4 on 11-30-2005 at 02:42 AM

As I said.. basically everything is improved. Nothing as major as 'no tabs - with tabs' or anything like that.

Wow...

Firefox is getting better now although it is still slower than my default browser.

If someday the extension I want is made available, there's no doubt I'm switching to Firefox :p

By the way, if you already have Firefox 1.5 RC3, don't bother updating its exactly the same build :)

It's definitely a very bad leak

What do you think the cause possibly would be?

I have DOM Inspector, CostumizeGoogle, Tab Mix Plus and IE Tab.

Ive had 6 leaks in the past 2 weeks :-/ 4 of them consumed 60-80 mb ram, one consumed 95mb ram and the last one was late last nite after running ff for 4 straight hours with 3 windows and 4 - 5 tabs each there was a memory leak and it showed 112mb :-/

Something is seriously wrong.

And btw 112 mb is bad for me cause i have 256 mb ram whilst other ppl like dt have 1 gb ram and ive seen them loose about 800 mb ram to memory leaks :-/

RE: Firefox 1.5 officially released! by cardshark on 11-30-2005 at 04:41 PM

Are all the extensions the same as what would be used in the 1.5 Beta? I'm being lazy about updating the browser but am interested in the extensions themselves. :)

RE: Firefox 1.5 officially released! by Chris4 on 11-30-2005 at 04:45 PM

Hmm I just noticed it's got quite a big mem usage, don't know if it has always been like that. Although it's not as big as the screenshots above, it's around 46,844k...

RE: Firefox 1.5 officially released! by Rodney on 11-30-2005 at 09:26 PM

I've got a bit of a problem here, and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm using FF 1.5 and Greasemonkey 0.6.2.1. Everything worked fine. Then I tried to install a new script, and it just... err... completely fucked up. :undecided: Look at this screenie. None of the buttons work. I tried everything, in the end I just uninstalled FF and deleted every possible thing related to it - registry entries, temporary files, etc. Thinking this would surely have solved the problem I reinstalled everything, but no, it still didn't work. I can't use it at all and I have no idea why. Help?

Well, yeah...

It's a leak for me, Mr. l33t-who-owns-1gb-of-ram-and-a-dual-screen-monitor.

As for your leak case, that's indeed worse :p
How could an application which is prolly used by hundreds of thousands of people nowadays have a major problem?

tbh, I've never seen a program had memory leaks that bad since I know that I could see processes by pressing ctrl-alt-del.

Anyways, I've removed CostumizeGoogle, and Firefox's still very slow.
Maybe my computer just hates Firefox... :p
...or it is not the fastest a fast browser like many people claim.

at least it works better with live mail beta now :D

There is no link to it not yet anyway its still in the cvs and because Aaron (the guy who made greasemonkey) didnt want anyone to make an xpi version of that build yet.

if you know how to use cvs just connect to mozdevs server
guest@mozdev.org
tis a  pserver .
the repository folder is /cvs
module is greasemonkey
RE: Firefox 1.5 officially released! by YottabyteWizard on 12-01-2005 at 05:01 AM

Everything is fine, except Mass Downloader plugin isn't compatible with Firefox 1.5 ¬¬ No more 'anatomy' pics :'(

RE: Firefox 1.5 officially released! by linx05 on 12-01-2005 at 05:23 AM

I downloaded it and had a go at it. It felt pretty smooth. The menus felt faster, the configuration dialogs felt faster. Even clicking Ok saving the config appears faster.

But... with the huge leaks which still haven't been fixed I'll have to uninstall it again.

RE: Firefox 1.5 officially released! by cardshark on 12-01-2005 at 05:26 AM

Anyone have a preference on a particular download manager for that to use with FlashGot? I know you can use it with just the built-in one with Firefox, but I'm trying to find something that will work a bit better.
