Blocked sites by Replicarter on 11-30-2005 at 09:29 AM

Just been listening in to other peoples conversations, and someone has found another hole in my schools internet filter. And i cant figure it out myself :@, anyway, something about removing the http:// from the address and adding something else, like UBL or something. Then you can access the site even though its blocked. Any idea what im talking about?

thanks
Repli

RE: Blocked sites by RaceProUK on 11-30-2005 at 04:12 PM

There's no way past a filter by changing http:// to something else, as the http:// means you're connecting to a website.

RE: Blocked sites by Chris4 on 11-30-2005 at 04:50 PM

I was just about to post about this so might aswell post here...

My school computers has RM SafetyNet Plus which filters websites. I thought it might be an Internet Explorer addon but i've tried installing Firefox but it still filters. I used Process Explorer to close all programs running but yet again.. it still filters. I don't know how to get rid of it. :(

If your school computers arn't as strict as mine, you should try doing that ^^

RE: Blocked sites by CookieRevised on 11-30-2005 at 04:54 PM

You might wanna try to replace "http://" with "ftp://". Though it often doesn't work, it might work with some sites.

http:// or ftp:// or whatever identifies the protocol used to connect to the site. FTP is used to transfer files (File Transfer Protocol), but some sites do accept it without problems and if the filter in your school isn't that advanced and only checks for the address string pasted in the browser window, you might have some luck...

my school has RM too....

they banned these forums :dodgy: just because its 'web based chat' stupid admins, they seriously do suck... right click for everything except my documents has been disabled!? we cant customize anything, we cant go on a website for like more than 3 times without it getting blocked....

i would reccommend some proxys for getting round school blocking... only problem is when the proxy gets blocked... *-)

RE: Blocked sites by ibisdevil2 on 11-30-2005 at 05:25 PM

their is such a thing and i have it my files hopefully. let me look

edit: well it odes not go infornt but it goes after the .com or what ever it is .nyud.net:8090/ , it worked at my school.

More info about that here: The Coral Content Distribution Network

I bet many schools already block it... :-/

Probely won't work because say i was to enter games.com, the word 'games' is filtered.. and that's still in the URL so probely wouldn't work.

Same here :P

ibisdevil2 - thanks but they arn't no help for RM SafetyNet Plus
RE: Blocked sites by Joe on 11-30-2005 at 11:18 PM

My school isn't very strict.. mostly because i'm half of our IT staff practically:P... but there are sites that allow people access... like Megaproxy.com

RE: Blocked sites by Supersonicdarky on 11-30-2005 at 11:47 PM

try the cjb proxy, its not blocked at my school, but some sites still get blocked

www.cjb.net

RE: Blocked sites by Ezra on 11-30-2005 at 11:59 PM

Try the ip adresses usually those aren't blocked.

msghelp.net [64.62.180.102]
megaproxy.com [63.208.219.45]
cjb.net [216.194.70.4]

At my school nothing is blocked, only the traffic is channelled trough a proxy, but if you know the adresses of the proxy servers you can use tunnels to get past them :-)

RE: Blocked sites by user13774 on 12-01-2005 at 12:44 PM

@ My work they have a real tricky filter. I get all sorts of errors like:

Forbidden, this page (http://www.megaproxy.com/) is categorized as: Anonymizer/Translator.
(that takes away megaproxy.com...)

Forbidden, this page (http://www.msgplus.net/) is categorized as: Chat.

but also: IP Addresses are restricted

the CJB proxy works, but is extremely slow.. the internet connection is terrible here and cjb proxy makes it even worse.

RE: Blocked sites by thc2010 on 12-01-2005 at 01:18 PM

Your own Private php proxy

if your school is strict and smart... like mine, the best solution is to open up a webhosting account on louhabs.com or cankoo.com i would recomend louhabs if you dont feal like posting to get your webhosting. Anyways... register for a webhosting that supports php and put this in your server:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-proxy/

this is a php proxy script.. it will be unditectible by most schools becuase they dont know about it.. ^^ have fun!

Narrowed down steps:

1) go to http://www.louhabs.com
2) Go to forum
3) Register for a forum account
4) Request a hosting plan
5) Wait for a reply
6) Once you get your reply, and your ready to open up ur server... type in ftp://username@louhbas.com
7) Enter your username & password
8) keep the ftp window open and download php proxy (google it if you can't find it on source forge) http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-proxy/
9) extract it to a directory (folder)
10) drag and drop your folder that has php proxy in it to your ftp window
11) wait till its done uploading
12) now put http://louhabs.com/*username*/*folder*/*php_proxy.php*
13) Enjoy your freedom

this is an awsome script if you wanna be an asshole to most websites or even register on the same server more than once.. just look for more servers to upload your php proxy and you'll have x number of proxy servers (x=number of servers you have php proxy installed in).

also, if your school is using vcasel as thier protection software that disables anyone from running or installing programs on the computer, try renaming the files to anything that has the authority to run (ie: rename keylogger.exe to winword.exe)

RE: Blocked sites by lizard.boy on 12-01-2005 at 10:58 PM

i'm running PHProxy on my ubuntu/apache test box on my home line. it works pretty well for google images for projects and stuff but in most places you cant log in.. which is pissing me off since i cant get to gmail.  (and phproxy dosnt work properly with ajax)

yeah, thats the sad thing about php proxy, they won't let you loginto anything. Dunno what ajax is, but for your gmail, try using a pop3 mail reader like web2mail or mail2web.com i cant remember which one.. but logins for that work.
RE: Blocked sites by Chris4 on 12-02-2005 at 06:04 PM

Thanks for the proxy info, first time i've come across 'proxy' but i'll have a go and see what happens.

cjb.net and others doesn't work on my school computers because it's still opening the filtered website, therefore it's filtered.

megaproxy.com and things like that probely won't work because you type in the website [eg. filteredsite.com] and it goes to https://vip.megaproxy.com/go/_mp_framed?www.filteredsite.com
filteredsite.com is still in the URL, therefore it will be filtered.

Very strict as I said before.. :(

PHProxy can get past that. It can use rotate 13, base64, or both, encoding on the uri, so that it isn't in the proxy address, the encoded version is.

Problem is my school's changing from RM Safetynet Plus to something else next week and according to the guy that does it all, I won't be able to see what it's called, etc. :|
RE: Blocked sites by BigTrev on 12-11-2005 at 12:13 AM

i in no way condone trying to get past your security at school haha yeah right whatever. usually you can tell by the no access pages and stuff that are kicked up. with the proxy at my school you get these big error screens that have bess written all over them. basically if you want to get around a filter, the method you use depends on what type of filter it is, and weather or not you want to risk suspention. (aka a real life banning :chrongue:)

tell us after youve had a few sites blocked, and we can probably make some suggestions.
RE: Blocked sites by computery on 12-18-2005 at 01:24 AM

they could use any software like rm/rm plus but to see if you go on banned site so swear words porn word words relating to drugs etc will be logged then they can ban the keywords and they can print out evidence and get u done

i want to get banned, im trying to get an official letter saying im banned from the computers so i can frame it beofre i leave in marchish... lol
RE: Blocked sites by computery on 12-18-2005 at 08:00 PM

lol if ur computers are not secured enough like our old ones wernt - until they ruined all my fun and got classlink xp!, where you cant right click unless you on the internet you cant even in my documents - just make a simple bacth file with:
shutdown -s -t 1 -c COMMENT  HERE MUST BE ONE LINE -f

cuz the shutdown -s shuts it down the -t 1 does it in one second and the -c comment here comes up in the box and the -f forses all applications to close! place this in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and to be sure place it in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
as well! you can get out of it by goin to safe mode but change the admin password - try start-run-   control userpasswords2

if you have your own website with cgi+ftp access go here and enter the details it will install CGI-Proxey and you can login to stuff as well.

http://install.xav.com/?p=cgiproxy

is your school bans the site make a new one under a different name lol

also if you have only cgi access not ftp you can install this manually:
http://www.jmarshall.com/tools/cgiproxy/releases/cgiproxy.2.0.1.tar.gz

iv got this on my website works very well just some free providers limit bandwith

RE: Blocked sites by computery on 12-18-2005 at 08:13 PM

BEFORE YOU CHANGE THE FILE NAME DO THIS:
i have the time limit on 100 incase you run it by accident. just delete the two 0s so it reads at the moment -t 100 change that to -t 1

then
change the txt to bat so its called shutdown.bat not shutdown.txt

then place this script i uploaded into the:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

and
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

folders

about the change password thing just go to start run type in control userpasswords2 and depending on how secure your school is a list of users might come up if it does click administrator and choose reset password and if you get a warning press ok/yes (forgot which one it is - think its ok)

RE: Blocked sites by stoshrocket on 12-18-2005 at 08:22 PM

ahh.... the windows key and run tab are disabled on mine, shame, we were going to configure stuff with it, but it didnt work, naughty images on the school computers via my proxy keeps my friends happy for now, thansk anyway!

RE: Blocked sites by computery on 12-18-2005 at 08:23 PM

why dont you make a shortcut at home to the two folders then use that? thats what i used to do until they prevented read access to the c drive just to my username so i logged on as someone else lol supid skl

and call it all users then make another one to
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
and call it admin then take all 3 files in with you on a usb drive/mp3 player/floppy disk whatever and go to my computer and open the drive and choose the file then CTRL+C then double click one of the shortcuts and press CTRL+V then press back and press CTRL +C on the shutdown.bat file again then double click the other shortcut and press CTRL+V

RE: Blocked sites by ipab on 09-16-2006 at 07:54 PM

Most schools have a gateway that accesses the outside world and it is in this gateway that the filtering takes place. There is really no way to get around it, unless you gain root access to the server and add websites to a white list. For example my school filters things like chat, forum, games (but not game), etc... and also specific websites like www.meebo.com.

I have been using PHProxy (http://whitefyre.com/poxy/) for a while now, and that I found is really quite good. It has issues with this website (logging in). Hopefully verssion 0.5 will fix that. You really should try it out.

RE: Blocked sites by andrewdodd13 on 09-16-2006 at 08:52 PM

I found that sticking VNC Server on my home PC, taking the IP in to school with me and connecting from the VNC client in school not only allows you to access anything but it also goes ten times faster :).

I actually think my school upgraded their gateway software over the holidays, anytime I try to log in to any phpBB forums I get HTTP 400 (bad request) :|.

Btw, with the above shutdown script most NT-Kernel based systems will use NTFS and have All Users & Other user home-directories set to non-world-writable for obvious security reasons.

RE: Blocked sites by ipab on 09-16-2006 at 09:17 PM

if you are using xp based machines, located the SAM and System files and calculate the user hashes, then use [name of password cracking software] to find the passwords. If you are lucky, the system admin password is on each and everyone of the systems. That way, you can have full system access. That still leaves the issue of getting blocked from websites.

As for VNC, my school blocks access on every port except for 3128 through which they access the gateway, and then the internet. Therefore VNC can have issues, depending on how your school's network is set up.

obviously you need to go through the school's internet gateway, unless ofcourse you go to a school that doesn't use a filter, in which case, you are definitely lucky.

Umm ... if there was sarcasm there, it didn't work :^). His home WLAN might reach school, there might be other WLANs that cover his school with full internet access, or he might have real wireless internet.

download the free program RM-Passer https://sourceforge.net/projects/rmpass/

RE: Blocked sites by Lourix on 09-30-2006 at 10:48 AM
