I bet they'll explain when it's up again, like they always do.

nope, its down, will be up... for now use WebDP if you have one
I usualy use both xD in my opinion, webDP may take out w2m, mainly for the face that you dont have to have webdp.co.nr anywhere on your signiture... so i guess web2messenger's gona have to rethink of a way to top that idea

azraphale said something about moving to a new server on IRC earlier today

RE: w2m by *Saint* on 12-01-2005 at 03:01 AM

i saw that this morning when i clicked the link of my picture it did say something about IE and a exploit and 60% of their users use IE and that you should swith to Firefox or Opera.

i dont remember the exact words but that pretty much what it said

RE: w2m by MeEtc on 12-01-2005 at 03:10 AM

no, that was fixed already. They got hacked, and the forums link led to a page with a javascript exploit with IE.

Reason For The Downtime

Update: We've brought the site back online with Status Images only being regenerated once per hour for the time being. When we fully optimise the caching and get a more powerful server that period will be reduced again, but I still don't think that an hour is a huge period of time for an image that shouldn't be changing very often anyway.

You've all noticed that we've been down for quite some time (well, just over a week, I think). This was originally due to a hacker somehow altering this forum and making it direct somewhere else where an Internet Explorer exploit was hosted. We took the opportunity to try and find a new host, which we did, and we moved there, were back online for a few hours, then realised that the server wasn't powerful enough to host Web2Messenger so we took it offline again. The server was going to get upgraded or us moved to a more powerful server, but the deal fell apart for various reasons I see no point in detailing here.

We are currently in the process of negotiating a new host on a server powerful enough to handle Web2Messenger, which uses a lot more power than a lot of people realise, myself included.

We have brought the forums back online so people can discuss what's happening and find out what's going on, but the main site (status images, specifically) uses so much processing power that it isn't currently feasible for it to be online.

Edit 3: Been taken down again :dodgy:

yeh its good its coming back, they should just take things slowly and get everything working good.

* hmaster goes back to working on a caching system for the dynamic images :(
