Battery Metre by Nathan on 12-04-2005 at 01:29 PM

Hiya all,
I have a  panasonic laptop, Using ME edition.
It has the battery metre on it but it doesnt tell you how long have left.

E.g

[-__+]
98% Remaining

But it should look like this...
[-__+]
2 Hours & 15min (98%) Remaining

I dont think that there is a laptop that shows how much time its needed for the battery to die... :S
I have a HP computer with winXP, and it doesnt show the time left... :-/

Also, it cant be very accurate, because, if your laptop plays music, or does some 3d rendering, the battery will end faster...

Dont know how "correct" this may be, but this may be the problem. :)

Well my laptop does have the remaining time on it, and in response to Mike - if it is displayed as a percentage, the battery remaining time changes according to how much processor power you are using, so you could have 80% and 1 hour, implying that you are running quite heavy apps, but if you closed the app, the percentage would stay at 80%, but the time remaining on the battery might be 2:13.

All of my schools laptops have the time remaining on them, as does my dell, but if it is a BIOS problem you could contact your laptop manufacturer and see if there is an update with that feature enabled.

Sorry for the bump, however, I have found this software: http://www.nistech.com/BatteryBar/Default.aspx

With Battery Bar you won't ever have to guess how long your laptop's battery will last. Battery Bar always shows you exactly how much time your laptop's battery will run. Battery Bar uses the most accurate time prediction algorithm on the market today. It also displays the current percentage of battery power left. Battery Bar is intelligent, the more you use Battery Bar the more accurate it gets. Battery Bar continuously displays status icons so that you can always tell if your battery is on AC, charging, battery power, or if your battery is low. Battery Bar will also let you specify a battery percentage level that when reached Battery Bar will shut down the computer. Battery Bar has the ability to run on top of all other programs so that it is always visible. Battery Bar is small so that you have plenty of screen space for other programs.

I haven't tried it, but you might wanna try it ;)
