Apple by Elessar on 12-09-2005 at 07:42 AM

I'm not sure whether a similar topic has been posted before... but I haven't had much experience using Apple computers and I would like to know what do the users of Apple computers think of them?

I checked one out a couple of weeks ago, with the owner showing me why it is "the shit".

Mac is much simpler than Windows, all your images are in the images library, all your music is in the music library etc. Whenever you want to use a file that you have.

For example, add a song into a video that you are editing, you just go to "add music", and it will have your library there for you, to easily choose the song you want. The same would happen with other files. On Windows you wuld have had to remember where you saved the clip, and what the filename was. You would have had to go through bazillions of folders, and possibly pick the wrong file.

Also, you can't forget how awesome they are as gaming machines, just watch Switch Parody (Quicktime, of course) and see for yourself.

I really hated Apple until recently, and I still don't like them. I wouldn't mind owning a Mac (I want a PowerBook!) but I wouldn't throw away Windows as my favourite OS.

Mac is only good if you're a mac user, like traxor said.

The things are a complete bitch to switch from windows to.

Macs are more powerful, simpiler, and by far better made machines.

Macs are a detail oriented machine, It's a computer done right.

They are extremely stable. Also, a Mac acccessory is a Mac accessory, like a PlayStation game is a PlayStation game, it just works. With other systems, there are many more considerations about whether a product will work with another, but with Mac, most things are highly integrated and compatible.

That also means that they are compatible with nothing that isnt Mac, you can go into a computer store and buy a stick of RAM, and have it work in the non Mac computer of your choice, but put it in a Mac and the Mac will reject it.

I know I've already posted it, but in the second half of Switch Parody (Quicktime, of course) the process of upgrading your Mac is explained.

That has nothing to do with macs, it has to do with mac programmers and developers.

Although, everything made for mac is usually by apple, so it's no wonder.

Actually, the RAM in an apple computer is just the same as in any other computer. Same with the hard disks, cd drives etc etc

You can use any mouse on a mac. Infact, apple have just released a new two button "mighty" mouse that ships with there imac range.

Also, a few games that work on the mac: http://www.apple.com/games/

The hardware is the same kind, but Macs check to see it it is Mac compatible or something, like a blown out hardware level WHQL check. You can take a component out of a Mac ad put it into a non Mac and hav it work most of the time, but not the other way around.
