Can you tell us what's the error message when trying to uninstall Messenger?

it reads "this patch package could not be opened.verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it,or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package."

Well i've been searching the web for ages and can't seem to come across a solution. It seems there's a problem with the registry, therefore i'd try using a program like RegClean or Registry Machanic.

Hope that helps.

So you have MSN Messenger 7.5 installed on your computer and you can't remove it. Well, you've tried uninstalling it, so how about manually removing it.

  • First check in Task Manager that MSN Messenger isn't running.
[Ctrl + Alt + Del, check in Processes for msnmsgr.exe, End Task if it's running]

  • Go to C:\Program Files and delete the folder 'MSN Messenger'

  • Then try installing again.

Then try installing again.

After this of course, then try to uninstall. Reinstalling will hopefully fix the errors in the registry with the current installation.
