Check that your motherboard can handle a 1GB stick too. It should be in the RAM section of your Motherboard's manual or possibly on the website.

RE: ram makes by DJKAL on 01-01-2006 at 09:01 PM

here is an EXACT copy of the RAM table of info. in the mother board
maybe it means more to you?!
{sorry about the un-nesacery white space i couldn't see how to crop it in M$ paint!{

Pretty much the same as yours :P

        SLOT                    Memory Module     Total Memory
DIMM 1 [bank 0 & 1]             S/D                64MB~1GB
DIMM 2 [bank 2 & 3]             S/D                64MB~1GB
RE: ram makes by ddunk on 01-01-2006 at 10:17 PM

Yeah, you're fine with a 1gb stick.

I was thinking of buying a 512mb stick to add onto my 512mb I already have [256mb x 2] but I think from that data above I only have 2 places I can put memory sticks in.

If I took one of the 256mb sticks out and replaced with 512, i'd have 768mb...? I've been told I shouldn't use two different sticks.

Hmmm... Guess i'll have to get two 512mb memory sticks. [1MB Total]

You can use two different sticks and yes that'd work.

Here in portugal, that'd cost you 160 euros, pretty expensive, why don't you buy a 1gb ram stick for less than 160 euros and replace one of the 256 Mb ones with it ?

I guess I could get a 1GB stick for about £50 and replace with one of the 256mb sticks, so I'd have 1.25GB RAM? Correct?

Ok i'll take a look :)

I don't want to make a new topic so i'll post here...
In the manual it says:

You can install DDR400 (nForce2 400 only)/33/266/200 modules on the DDR DIMM slots (DIMM1~2)

Could someone tell me what this means? I'm thinknig of getting a 1mb memory stick but want one thats compatible with my computer obviously and don't want to buy the wrong one!!

it just means you have 2 DIMM slots for the RAM, that can support the speeds DDR400 ~ 200 stated. You want the fastest one which is DDR400, although it does say '(nForce2 400 only)' which im not too sure about, can someone varify what ive just said, i am pretty sure i am right in saying you can get a DDR400 RAM stick.
