Blueyonder Broadband is a very very good ISP, it's what I have, we're going through an update at the moment... I have 512kbps, paying £17.99 a month, they're updating it to 2mbps for free and I still only have to pay £17.99 a month.

People with 1mbps are going up to 4mbps, and those with 4mbps, are going up to 10mbps!

There are no download limits, it is a cable Motorola modem and is always on, so no waiting for a connection (referring to asdl)...

I'm not sure, but you may have to have Telewest Blueyonder television service, which you can get for £2 a month anyways, so it's nothing really :p.

RE: FAST internet connection? by vaiper on 01-03-2006 at 01:47 AM

*Actual speeds may vary. Internet limitations, the Cox network and the customer's computer configuration affect data speed. Maximum upload and downloads speeds are set to 128 kbps and 1024 kbps, respectively, for the Cox High Speed Internet service (and 128 kbps upstream and 128 kbps downstream for Cox Interact). Network management needs may require Cox to modify maximum upstream and/or downstream rates.

You have 1mb cable.... :P

That's your LAN speed. 54Mbit is normal for a wireless network, but that doesn't mean your connection to the internet actually is 54mbit. It's just the speed you cummunicate at between your pc and your router/modem/accesspoint and other PCs in your local network. Your actual internet speed depends on what your ISP gives you (what you pay for).

Look... the speed of your wireless adapter is useless because you can't send information that fast over DSL or Cable. its just that your computer can send the information at that speed to your router not top the internet.

the speed is limitated by your ISP not your USB!

Just because thats how fast your network card goes, doesn't mean your ISP can't limit it 8-)

 Thats the same thing! Rate means a combination of two different measurements... Speed is a combination of MegaBits Per Second (mbps)

If you could just improve your computer to get better speeds, how the hell would ISPs limit it?

Believe your ISP's website then... And 1mbps isn't fast, it's rather slow.

no, the equivilent of a traffic jam is dialup, 1mbps is like a 30mph road, 10mbps is like the motorway :D
