Help with laggy by Th3rmal on 01-05-2006 at 08:16 AM

i have just upgraded my pc and everything is well until you start scrolling. it just keeps on lagging like there is something hogging all the pc's CPU and Memory. Is there anyway i can stop this?

oh and btw the upgrades i got where an AMD Athlon 64 3200+, GeForce 6600GT 256mb, 1gb ram, Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 Motherboard and a Dual Layer DVD burner.

Help asap would be greatly appreciated as this is a very annoying problem.

Did you install your graphics card drivers or are you still using the generic ones?

This sounds like a classic textbook example of generic drivers which provide no graphics acceleration.

well I personally havent installed the drivers but i dont think the computer technichian did either as when i go to the display properties it does not say what graphics card i am running on. Thank you for the advice, i will install the drivers and see if that works and keep you updated.

EDIT: I just installed the drivers and now it is working completely fine.  Thanks especially to Chris Boulton. i would give you a positive rep but i cant rep yet :)
