wireless problems by [MR] on 01-14-2006 at 10:36 PM

since last night my wireless card will not get an ip address.  after a while of messing with my wireless card moniter it finally got an ip address.  this morning i needed to reformat my HDD for other reasons anyways so i did so.  i installed windows me just to get on the computer quickly b/c its installation is quick.  i took out my wireless card and then installed it, it askes to reboot and insert the card, so i do.  i turn the computer back on and it can find access points but it cant connect to the internet.  i should be getting an ip address b/c i have before in the past where my computer is.  is this a problem with my computer of the router, or the internet connected to the router?  thanks.

edit:  there are 3 wireless networks i can connect to, and all 3 of them will not give me an ip address...should i reinstall my wireless card?

hmm you know, some wireless lans are crypted, is it your router that you connect to or like your neighbours?

If ifs your own then well, try find out if you have a wepkey on it!

And well, WIN ME aint that network friendly anyway...

And just a conclusion since you can see the 3 networks and cant get an ip and connect then I think its the wepkey that your missing, got a wlan myself, and well wepkey is the problem to most things!:)

are you sure DHCP is working correctly on you router?

Also make sure Windows accepts an ip from the DHCP server, maybe it want's you to enter one manually.
