I am not sure which, because i am getting a computer for free, and 1.7GHz isnt enough for me.. i just wanna know what component increses the GHz of a comp.

It depends on the motherboard in the computer and its FSB (Front Side Bus) and the maximum speed the board itself will support. Why don't you think that 1.7GHz is enough?

one thing about comps the more mem u have the better it will run if u have a cach option in your bios turn it on it will help the ht fecher of the bord and it my increse your speeeeeeed to your desierd point if not see if it can handle a faster cpu with a faster fsb speed

Translation: More RAM = More Speed. Also, BIOS cache settings are usually set to match the processor installed, so will always be enabled.

It's only worth going for a faster CPU for faster running of CPU-intensive apps, such as games. For everyday uses, go for huge RAM (also good for games) and fast-access hard drives.
