NOD32. Simply been one of the fastest scanners for years. Hardly use any system resources and never missed a signle virus in the VirusBTN VB100% tests.

Neither are any of the 3 the topicstarter mentioned. In fact, Avast! is the only free one mentioned up to now i think.

Oh, you're right AVG Free Edition. But it has some limitation compared to the normal AVG.
RE: Which anti-virus is the best? by Timothy003 on 01-15-2006 at 10:32 PM

AVG isn't that good; I had some viruses in my computer for years with AVG installed, then I discovered avast! and it detected the viruses during its first scan.

The best one FREE is AVG, but if you want to pay a small amount for a better software go for Nod32 as a lot of people mentioned above.

Alright, now that we are on this topic... how good is Kaspersky?

RE: Which anti-virus is the best? by [MR] on 01-16-2006 at 04:58 AM

i think Symantec Anti Virus is the best but thats just my opinion.

RE: Which anti-virus is the best? by kittymew on 01-16-2006 at 05:25 AM

Best Antivirus

Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2002: Also tops in our tests was Symantec's $50 Norton AntiVirus 2002, a fine choice for PC virus protection.

voted best antivirus by pc world

I can't believe noone mentioned Windows OneCare Live.... for me it's the best antivirus and firewall .. maybe anti spyware too soon.

http://www.windowsonecare.com  <--- beta version, so it doesn't cost ATM.

Btw is it just me or do you think too that we should have 2 poll's with all possible browsers and anti-viruses stickied !!!!
And mabbe internet security softwares (av+firewall)/firewall and all other softwares that seem to create a war .... well the 1st two should be created imo :P

Anti vir :)

RE: Which anti-virus is the best? by Lt.Col.DraGon on 01-30-2006 at 05:46 PM

I actually tried Avast! and it didn't detect any virus at all when i had one. I then installed McAfee (because WOC was not available yet) and guess what, it found 3 viruses and then it deleted them and all my viruses were gone.

Avast! didn't detect those viruses so I don't trust that program anymore.

I haven't had any troubles with WOC and any viruses since when I installed it, so I think it's a good program lol :P

I use Panda Titanium and it seems to do the job fine.  However, Avast is also good.
