I'm having some serious problems with this game... by Hybrid on 01-22-2006 at 07:03 PM

Ok so I just got a new PC game, Empire Earth II, and for some reason it won't play. I have so far only tried playing "Skirmish" wich is basically practice and campaign is boring so I never tried it. But this is what I get
EXCEPTION:    ACCESS VIOLATION
  0x005f7b4d: offset 5f7b4d from [(unknown)]
  EAX: 00000070h      ESI: 092691e8h
  EBX: 00000000h      EDI: 0a707160h
  ECX: 0000001ch      EBP: 092691e8h
  EDX: 0a707120h      ESP: 00327d04h
  EIP: 005f7b4dh
   SS: 00000023h       CS: 0000001bh
   DS: 00000023h       FS: 0000003bh
   ES: 00000023h       GS: 00000000h
Flags: 00010202h       CF: 0 PF:0 AF:0 ZF:0 SF:0 OF:0

(And below it the options [Debug] and [Quit] appear, I clicked debug but got no help what so ever.)
I don't know what the problem is...

have you checked the official Empire Earth site for any FAQs, etc.?

Well, I checked the official website to check if they have any downloadable patches for this, but I haven't checked the FAQs yet, I think I'll do that now.

Well, I checked and from what I can see they don't have my problem listed.

ok, right click your desktop, and choose properties. choose the settings tab, and tell me what it says in the drop down menu, headed "Display:"

Question- Does this seem under requirements?

Minimum Specification
Microsoft® Windows® 98/Me/2000/XP operating system
NVIDIA® GeForce™ 3 or equivalent DirectX® 9.0c-compliant 64 MB 3D video card with hardware T&L and pixel shader support
1.5 GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 processor or equivalent
256 MB RAM
1.5 GB of uncompressed hard disk space for game files
DirectX® 9.0c (included)
DirectX®-compatible sound card and speakers or headphones
4X CD-ROM drive
Microsoft® compatible mouse and keyboard
Minimum 56K dial-up modem for online play

My Specification
Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system
All-in-wonder 128 pro AGP 128mb
736 MHz Intel® Pentium® 3 processor
256 MB RAM
981 mb of uncompressed hard disk space (I can fix that?)
DirectX® 9.0 ( i think)
DirectX®- compatible sound card and speakers (pretty sure)
4X CD-ROM drive- I think.
Microsoft® compatible mouse and keyboard
Connections better than dial-up...

well... the processor power is a little on the low side for the game, but that should only cause very low framerate not crashes.

About the disksize, they mean before you install the game. If you don't have enough, you can't even install the game.

You can "fix" that by deleting old files and uninstalling games you don't want anymore...

Yes.
And you can fix the hard drive space by either having a cleanout of programs and files that you don't need, or buy a new larger hard drive (they are pretty cheap these days).

you also need a faster upto date cpu.
but if you know nothing about upgrading componants then you would be better off just getting a new computer, or if you want to go down the upgrade route, do a lot of research first.
