look at the gfx card, make sure that it is plugged in firmly. RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by YottabyteWizard on 01-27-2006 at 06:53 PM
If there's an integrated VGA on the mainboard and also you installed another one, change the cable to the other VGA, go to BIOS and change the option of wich one to use. RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by stoshrocket on 01-27-2006 at 06:56 PM
quote: will do, along with some info on it; it got me an official warning to never use the internet @ school again... quote: nope, just the one, a GeForce 7800GT, and its a totally new card and mobo, besides, i cant even access the bios setup - my monitor isnt showing anything EDIT: nope, checked the card and its plugged in firmly and rechecked the cables for the monitor, its still saying 'no input signal' RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by Voldemort on 01-27-2006 at 07:40 PM

quote: im just rebuilding, its not booting properly: no beep to say its loading, so i think its my hardware skilz, lol. its not that i told everyone about my proxy, its that i challenged the techies in our school, and went on naughty websites, they found out and next thing i know: the head of IT and Maths pulls me up and warns me officially, calls me an extremely clever young person but the techie has a psysics degree from Cambridge Uni (top 5 in the world ) quote:lol, i live in Machester, we have a software called CachePilot but the system is RM... RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by Th3rmal on 01-28-2006 at 12:56 PM i just fixed my pc today sorta cus of the same problem. My graphics card had blown and that was the reason my pc would not beep or bring up anything on the monitor, so maybe you could try a change of gfx card. the cpu may of died RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by user35870 on 01-28-2006 at 01:26 PM When you were fitting the parts inside the computer did you use any protection for static ? RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by stoshrocket on 01-28-2006 at 01:32 PM
quote:i would do but this comupter has an AGP slot and the one i have built has only PCI and PCI-E, along with an intel processor and the one i have built is AMD, so im a bit stumped. quote:the cpu fan works, not too sure about the CPU, as far as i know it is booting up properly, but there is not the usual beep to tell me that the core parts are working.... quote:yes and no, i used static bags to rest parts on, touched an earthed thing every 15mins and felt no static shocks, but didnt use one of those special anti-static bands: after reading many discussions on it i decided not to, but to atleast enforce some protection. RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by stoshrocket on 01-28-2006 at 07:58 PM sprry for double posting, but ive had a breakthrough: after reading MANY different threads all over the web i read that the mobo wont get past POST if the bios is earlier than the 1013 version, ive got the 1016 version (latest one) but i dont know how i could get this onto the actual motherboard, anyone know how i could do it?? thanks (its a BIN file if that helps) RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by Th3rmal on 01-28-2006 at 10:20 PM Im pretty sure it will be your gfx like i said in my last post because i had exactly the same symptoms and it ended up being the gfx card RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by stoshrocket on 01-28-2006 at 10:26 PM
quote:well what graphics card and processor do you have? RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by Th3rmal on 01-28-2006 at 10:27 PM i have a GeForce 6600GT and an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by stoshrocket on 01-28-2006 at 10:31 PM hmm, well i have a 64 X2: these arent supported on the earlier bios versions, so just to be sure its not just the bios, im gonna try and find a way of upgrading the bios without changing any parts, then i'll prbably try a new graphics card and then the processor... but im still stumped of how to upgrade the bios... RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by hmaster on 01-28-2006 at 10:32 PM I had a similar problem and it was the RAM I just had to take it out and put it back in again, try that if it helps RE: new system and new screen makes methos a very dull boy by stoshrocket on 01-28-2006 at 10:39 PM
quote:lol, ive tried many times, took everything out and put it all back in again, tried numerous slots and with only the bare minimum, nothing works.... ive sent an email to abit asking about upgrding the bios to 1016 so it would support the x2 processor, i should recieve an email about it soon, i think i might be able to put it on a floppy an load it up there, im not too sure... |
