AOE And Motherboards by Eddie on 01-31-2006 at 11:46 AM

Hey,

I have a Celeron Motherboard and all my other requirements r correct, but whenever i load the game, the smoke coming from the buildings in Age Of Empires 3 comes out as squares, anyone know why this is?? Could it be i need a AMD Motherboard??

nothin to do with your otherboard, unless you have built-in graphics.  It's your graphics card that's the problem.

Does it meet he requirments?  if so you may just need to tweak the game settings a bit or something.

Yer i have 256 MB Ram (Soon 512), 32 Bit Colour Quality, it works fine on my dads computer except he has AMD not Celeron, and thats the only solution i could come up with.

are you talking about the memory of the graphics card or the RAM of your computer? Because there's a difference between those 2 and when you say you're soon gonna get 512MB soon I suspect you're talking about RAM.

What graphics card do you have?

that's already a different motherboard and a different processor. I doubt the graphics card is the same on both pc's (it's possible offcourse).

Just set the graphics of things to a little lower.

Also, make sure you have the latest DirectX (9.0c): http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx & the latest nVidia GeForce drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html
