What am I to do? by Lou on 02-04-2006 at 04:42 AM

The past three days gmail notifier no longer has worked. In the past, I would go to the shortcut, click it, and get a dialog asking me to sign in to gmail....then it would work..now no dialog and when I pass over the gmail notifier icon in systray with my mouse it says "Offline"

I tried reinstalling twice with no luck [once reinstall over it, second time uninstall then reinstall]. I've tried rebooting. I really don't know what to do. If I cannot get it to work, I either would like sum1 to make 1 for me, or sum1 to direct me to a vb tutorial to make 1.

I just updated my firefox Gmail notifer and I got the lateset Gmail Desktop Notifier from Google and they both work.

Current Firefox version 0.5.5

How to update the Gmail Notifier for Firefox:-
Tools -> Extensions -> Click "Find updates" -> click on "install" or "update" (Can't remember which one it is) -> restart firefox

Current Desktop version 1.0.25.0

This has nothing to do with firefox. I never said anything about firefox.

And I did redownload the latest desktop version before reinstalling it.

I usually use Google talk, which has it built-in (notifier).

I had to use it the past few days but I don't want to have to be on google talk to check my emails. I tried again this morning, with no luck.

Does anyone know of a visual basic (.net or not) tutorial on how to make an email checker?

Well to make it you'd most likely want to manipulate Gmail's RSS feed which isn't that hard to do :P.

However, my gmail notifier (for firefox) stop working also, an update fixed it so maybe Google have changed how this works in the past few days? I really don't think its worth while creating a whole app to do this when it will be fixed in a few days / already is fixed but you need to download the latest update.

you can customize the google homepage and delete every rss feed thing and just leave gmail, it shows the number of unread mails with their subject

I asked for a program. I don't want to just use a homepage.
